This is going to be pretty short, but I wanted to give you something to read and let you know that I'm still writing this story but my mother's birthday is tomorrow and we are having a week long celebration so I'll be busy.

Luke was getting out of the hospital today, his mom just had to fill out some more forms, which she was currently doing in another room. Jonathan was at his best friend, Evan's house for a sleepover but had their mom give Luke a "get well soon" card that Jon made with Evan.

Luke sat on the edge of the bed, swinging his good leg and fiddling with the glitter-covered card in his hands. He didn't like hospitals, they were scary and boring, also way too bright. He looked up at the sound of the door opening, ready to go home with his mother. Instead he saw a short, thin, brunette women with her shoulder-length hair pulled into a small ponytail and under her white doctor coat she wore a pale pink top and gray jeans.

The woman sent him a kind smile as she walked over. "Hello, I heard you broke your leg. Does it hurt right now?" Luke shook his head and tapped the cast. "They gave me medicine and my ma is takin me home today. They said I just need to be careful." The woman nodded. "Great, just wanted to stop by to check on you. Would you care for a sucker?" the kind woman offered, holding out two different sucker for Luke to choose from. He quickly grabbed the chocolate sucker and thanked the woman.

"You're very welcome. I have to meet my husband and son to go home now, he is around your age.." she seemed to talk to herself towards the end as she walked to the door. Luke waved happily, "Bye Ms. doctor!" he said. She giggled, "Call me Mrs. Wrecker." she told him before walking out.

The next person to walk in(five minutes later) was actually Luke's mom. She gave him a pair of crutches to help him walk and they slowly left the hospital. As Luke and his mother reached the parking lot, a golden retriever puppy came running up to them.

Luke was more of a cat person, but he couldn't help but bend down the coo at and pet the happy little puppy. His mother looked around to find the owner of the dog, not wanting to steal someone's beloved pet. It was obviously a pet because he was clean and had a collar that said "Buddy" on it. She spotted a little brunette boy in a gray sweater crying while his assumed parents looked around frantically.

"Lukey, let's go see if this is that boy's puppy. We shouldn't let this little guy wander around alone. Luke nodded and carefully managed to hold the wiggling puppy, having to hold both crutches in one arm while he limped with his mom over to the family. He still had the sucker in his mouth and the dog was licking his cheek.

"Um, excuse me? Is this your dog?" Luke's mom asked the people as they approached them. The boy sniffled but saw the dog in Luke's arm and cried out in joy, "BUDDY!" and he ran over to get the dog. Luke careful handed over the puppy and the brunette boy giggled as the dog licked him in pure happiness.

"Oh, thank you so much! My son would've been heart broken if we didn't find his puppy." The woman, who Luke recognized as Mrs. Wrecker(the doctor) thanked his mother while shaking her hand. Luke's mom nodded, "No problem, the little guy came runnin up ta my son and lickin his face. I saw ya'll and guessed he was yours." The father nodded, "Thank you for returning him. Ryan, thank them," he told his son.

Ryan, the short brunette boy, grinned at Luke and his mother. "THANK YOU!!" he exclaimed and after gently setting down the dog he hugged Luke, squeezing his sides. Luke had to drop his crutches and almost fell over from the force of the hug. He patted Ryan's head before the boy pulled away and grabbed his crutches for him.

Luke and Ryan's mothers laughed at the exchange between their boys. "You know, I was actually one of the doctors who helped your son. You must be Ms. Patterson! I'm Ruth Wrecker and this is George. That is our son, Ryan." Luke's mother nodded and ruffled Luke hair. "Yep, this is Luke and you can just call me Lucille. Thanks for helping my boy." Ruth waved it off. "Thanks for helping mine." she giggled.

Ryan cut in, "Mommy, Daddy, can Luke come over?" Luke was just as surprised as the adults by the question. He hasn't really said anything to the boy, but even he didn't think he could say no to Ryan's big innocent hazel eyes. He noticed Ryan was wearing all gray and had a bandana around his neck that had a strange symbol on it.

"Uh.." George looked at his wife for help. Ruth glanced at Luke and Lucille before kneeling to speak to Ryan. "Honey, you-" Ryan pouted. "Pleeeeeaaase?" he begged. Lucille laughed and looked at Ryan kindly, "Luke would love to play with you honey, but he needs to rest his leg first. Maybe after school tomorrow you could come to our place and play." Luke looked up at his mom then back at Ryan. He wouldn't mind playing with the boy honestly.

Ryan smiled and hugged Lucille's legs then turned to Luke. "We're gonna be BEST FRIENDS!" he cheered and hugged Luke again, knocking them both down. Luke winced a bit at his leg but wasn't too bothered by the eager boy.

"Well, Ryan is being home-schooled right now so when is Luke available?" George asked. While the adults worked out the playdate, Ryan talked to Luke. He was still on top of the southern boy, but Luke didn't mind.

"I'm an only child, are you?" Luke shook his head. "I have a younger brother named Jonathan. He is at a sleepover right now." Ryan made an 'ooooh' sound. "Is your brother as cute as you?" Luke was surprised at the question and also embarrassed. "I.. uh.. I guess. I dunno.." Ryan giggled and Luke felt even more embarrassed. "Do you have a pet? I have Buddy, he's great. Ryan looked at the puppy who was sitting inside their car. "Y-yeah. I have a cat, I call her Queen cause she's prissy and thinks she's better than everyone." that made Ryan laugh.

"Ryan, we have to go now honey. You can see Luke tomorrow." Ruth told her son as her husband got in the car. Ryan scrambled up and helped Luke up again before saying goodbye and getting in the car. As the car started to pull away, Ryan waved out the window, Luke waving back with a chuckle.

"What an adorable boy! Come on, Luke, let's get home." Luke limped after his mother, actually excited to see Ryan again.
