A boy with a messy grayish hair was sitting by the window in his room, smoking cigarettes. This was the fifth in a row. He felt his lungs were starting to shrink, but it didn't bother him.
His eyes were looking at the sky that was pretty clear that day. The day itself was warm and nice, but the same couldn't be said for the boy.
Usually he didn't smoke that much, but he was feeling down and cigarettes were a good companion at the moment.
The only thing passing through his head at the moment was how it would be great if all the problems in life could disappear as the smoke disappears from a freshly stubbed out cigarette.
He started smoking at the age of 14. He got into a group of problematic kids from his neighborhood at the time and, even though he refused it in the begging, eventually he formed a smoking and drinking habit. He knew it was a bad decision, but he was too young to think of all the consequences.
He was wearing a V neck gray colored sacking T-shirt and a pair of old dark blue jeans. It really didn't bother him what he wore nor what he looked like.
His head was always in the clouds, far away from all the shit that was going on in the real world, therefore giving importance to something trivial as physical appearance was too shallow to him.
His life was very messy and it wasn't unusual if he'd skip eating the whole day. Usually he'd eat at least once a day, but not eating anything at all wasn't a rare case either.
He inhaled the last smoke of a cigarette and threw it through the window. It fell and rolled down on the narrow street which his window was facing.
He lived in a small flat with his single mother, Yena. His abusive alcoholic father had left them years ago, which made his mother work various jobs at the same time in order to make ends meet.
Even though she worked hard to afford all the basic needs, unfortunately, just as the boy's father, she wasn't the best mother either.
The boy's mother and father met in a club one night and after several drinks the two hooked up. She was 16 at the time and he was in his late twenties. After several more glasses of soju, he asked her to go with him to his place and she unthinkingly said yes.
When a girl is that young and inexperienced, all the sweet lies seem like an indisputable truth. He knew that pretty well because she was far from the first girl like her who he bought with the same lies.
They got into his car and started kissing half the way to his apartment. And then... it happened. She was too young and reckless to think of all the possible consequences and he was too greedy and thirsty for her young body. And nine months later... Taehyung happened.
When he found out Taehyung's mother got pregnant, he immediately left her, not wanting to know anything about her and their unborn child. He was a very selfish man who thought only of himself and his wellbeing.
Her parents didn't react positively either. It was a massive shock for them when they found out their 16 year old girl is now carrying a new life inside of her. They didn't renounce her, but told her to make money herself and raise the child on her own because it was her mistake and imprudence.
Ever Since very young age, he hasn't established a good relationship with his mother and the biggest problem was her life style.
She would've come to their place intoxicated by the amount of alcohol she would drink at the local pub. At that state, she wasn't able to even unlock the door of their apartment without having to put the key in the door lock for more than 20 times. When she'd succeed at opening the door, she'd stumble across the small living room, overthrowing fragile stuff that were on the table. Sometimes she would beat Taehyung hard for no reason just because alcohol would trigger all the frustration and dissatisfaction she carried, but now that he is a big grown boy, she can't attack him physically, so they just exchange verbal quarrel now.
Taehyung fell on his bed with his head facing the ceiling. He sighed at thoughts of life problems that were passing through his head.
Why does everything has to be so damn complicated... – The boy was thinking while closing his eyes.
He wasn't a type of person whose face would easily show the emotion that he was feeling. Even when he was so pissed he could beat the shit out of someone, his cold as ice expressions would conceal it all.
His room was very small. There was just enough space for the bed, small table and wardrobe to fit in, though he didn't really use the room for anything more than sleeping and smoking.
Just when he closed his eyes in attempt to rest a little bit, he heard his mother's voice calling from the other room.
"Taehyung, the dinner's ready." – Yena shouted.
Taehyung opened his eyes, annoyed by her voice and decided not to react. Two minutes later, his mother roughly opened the door.
"I won't call you twice. I have to go do some stuff in the city, so please don't make a mess while I'm out." – Taehyung's mother said with a very cold voice.
"Do some stuff, huh?... More like drinking gallons of soju.." – Taehyung commented rudely.
"Don't be so rude, I'm trying to make us money so we could pay the rent and you're being disrespectful!" – Yena shouted furiously at her son. He was just looking at the ceiling, not even bothered to look her in the eyes.
"Whatever..." – Taehyung jumped off the bed and took the keys and cigarettes, passing next to her.
"Where are you going? You haven't eaten anything since yesterday." – Yena's concerned and angry voice was heard from the background, but her son didn't bother to listen. He always did what he wanted.
