Trevor's POV***
I sit in the passenger seat of the black Audi R8 with my headphones on. Staring out the open window as the car speeds down the busy highway. We were almost to Eureka California, the home where my cousin Hailey and her parents lived. My fingers unconsciously drum against my leg as I wait impatiently. I've been waiting for a chance to go see her for years, and it finally came. Of course, it wasn't exactly to see her specifically; Mason and I were here for official pack business. Apparently, a group of Rogues has been causing a lot of trouble for Clawthorne, and since we're the closest neighboring pack, Alpha Asher sent his son (our future Alpha) Mason and me (his beta) to assist and help in any way we can. Early tomorrow morning we have an important meeting with Alpha Brent.
I sigh again hearing my favorite song come on, Waves by Dean Lewis. This song never gets old, even though I've listened to it on repeat at least twenty different times. This song always reminds me of Hailey. It's been almost five years since I've last seen her in person. Of course, we face time and call, but it's not the same as actually being there. I smile softly, recalling all our reckless adventures as kids. The way we would run through the woods in wolf form, not having a single care in the world. That was always my favorite part about Hailey. The way she's so carefree and laid back. Well, that and her amazing cooking skills.
Mason grunts from the driver seat stealing my attention, "What's wrong?"
He grumbles something running a hand through his hair, but I can still understand what he's saying because of my wolf hearing, "That's the seventeenth time you've sighed in the last thirty minutes. Stop it, you're driving me insane. Remember Trevor, we're here on pack business. You can see her before and after the meeting, but you can't keep getting distracted." Of course, he knew what I was thinking about.
I sit up straighter, "Yes Alpha." I say it mockingly knowing he doesn't like the title.
Turning he glares at me, before moving his gaze back to the road avoiding a nearby Toyota. I grin victoriously, turning up my music so it blasts out my headphones. Mason can't stand the music I listen to, he's more of a country guy then pop. I know it really starts to aggravate him when his knuckles turn white on the steering wheel. In one fluid motion, he yanks my headphones off tossing them through the open window.
"What the hell man?! Those were around thirty dollars!" I yell reclining my chair, pulling my beanie over my eyes. My god that cost me an eighth of my paycheck. I close my eyes deciding to take a nap for the rest of the drive. It was only seven in the morning, but it was still as hot as I remembered it would be. Only thirty minutes left.
Slowly, I begin drifting off to sleep...
Hailey's POV***
I wake up joyfully before my alarm clock comes on. It's only 6:45 in the morning and I'd normally sleep in, but today was different. Today, (it was Sunday) Trevor was coming to pay a visit to our pack. I climb out of bed, hastily making the purple sheets before running to jump in the shower. He'll be here in an hour and a half, although I probably won't be able to see him until sometime after lunch.
Bathing as quickly as possible, I wrap a towel around my body leaving the bathroom after around twenty minutes. I like my warm showers just as much as I loved to cook with red wine. Technically, I was still underage at sixteen, but that never stopped me from sneaking a cup or two from dad's wine cellar. He had tons of bottles, and I learned a long time ago that if I took the red liquid from an opened bottle, he'd never suspect a thing. Once or twice when I've been really upset, I'd take a whole bottle, but we don't talk about that. The fewer people who know about my drinking problem, the better. Besides, it's been over six months since I had to crack open a Merlot to soothe my pain.
