Hailey's POV*

I was going in and out of consciousness. This much I knew because I was with Berry...in my mind. I also knew I was with the pack doctor because of the drug-like effect I was feeling.

The world was loopy, or maybe it was just me. Whichever it was I know for a fact that I'm in pain. A tingling jolt of it would race up my arm every now and then. It hurt so bad but for some reason, I craved the pain. It was the only thing that reminded me I was still alive.

Some pack members who were reciprocated back to life would tell stories of what it was like on the other side. They talked about being able to see their wolves and run with them through the woods. Others would say they saw Her. The Moon Goddess.

I look around again but saw no one but Berry. "Nope, still good." Another jolt of pain causes me to wince and I pull my arm close to my body, cradling it. Berry comes closer with her tail tucked in between her legs. She hesitantly licks my arm. She thinks this is her fault. "It's not your fault Berry." I rub her head with my free hand reassuring her. "I'm not mad."

"Now that we're alone here, we can discuss the problem at hand. The guy from the Cafe." Deep down we both know that nothing would make him chase us down so persistently unless he was our mate. "Mate." The word sounds so foreign on my lips.

It's hard to think that I found my mate at the age of sixteen. "Why so soon? Couldn't he have waited a few more years until I was ready? I'm hardly eligible for a mate...and a warrior one?" I guess that makes sense. I am a future Delta. Well at least until my brother is old enough to take over. The real problem at hand was the one simple fact. It was more of a question really. "Would he want to move into our pack?" I couldn't stand the thought of leaving my family and the life I have here. My pack is family. My pack is home.

I lay down on the grassy meadow staring up at the sky watching the clouds pass by. Berry lays down next to me curling up into a ball at my side. We lay there like that for a long time in silence. Or at least until a crash of thunder fills the sky.

We pounce up looking around the field. As simple as it was, the sky turned black with angry clouds and flashes of lightning. Another growl fills the air causing Berry to jump in front of me growling back. I look off into the woods seeing nothing but a pair of eerily bright purple eyes. I know those eyes.

I take a step back and bump into a thick wall. I spin around looking up into the same purple eyes. Berry growls lunging between us. I look back to the woods seeing only blackness before looking at Reed again. He's wearing the same clothes from when I first saw him. Black skinny jeans and a black shirt with a hoodie. It hugged his skin showing off his lean and perfect muscles.

"So my mate is a Delta?" It wasn't really a question, more of a statement but my eyes still widen in surprise at his words. I take another step back growing frightened. "Wait if this guy is supposedly my mate, then why the hell was the other guy chasing me down?"

His lip curls up amused at my reaction. He absentmindedly runs a hand through his messy pitch black hair, messing it up more then it already was.

"Well, that's really simple. He's lying. I'm your real Mate."

The voice brings chills down my spine. "Can they read my mind?" I spin around to be face to face with the man from the Cafe. Well, more like face to chest. Berry lets out another growl before taking a hold of my left hand and gently pulling me away from the guys. They stand still watching us go before turning and locking eyes with each other. The glares they send was enough to make me submit but I knew better.

Berry leads me farther away inside the dense woods. "Which one was my mate? Was Reed really my mate? Or was my brain playing a sick game because he saved me in the fight?"
