Wednesday came around quicker than Lauren had hoped it would. Her psychological evaluation was scheduled for that day, after all, and she really, really didn't want to go through with it, but she owned it to Camila – hell, she owned it to herself – to do so.

She woke up to an empty bed, something that she was still becoming used to since being shot, but she couldn't help how much more she slept nowadays. Groaning, she hid her head under her pillow and wished that she could just wake up the next day.

(Truth be told, Lauren would give everything to get her hands on the remote control from Click – message of the movie be damned – just to fast forward her life until she was fully recovered. But skipping this day would already be good enough.)

It didn't help that she hadn't slept really well because of the nightmare that had woken her up in the middle of the night. Fortunately, she hadn't woken Camila up, or the girl would be more worried than she already was. And there was no reason to tell her, since she was going to the damn doctor today anyway.

"Morning, princess." Camila's sweet voice came from the door, making Lauren pull her head from underneath the pillow.

The Latina looked breathtaking with her sweat pants and t-shirt, her hair in a messy bun and with her glasses on, and Lauren couldn't help how her heart skipped a beat.

"I heard your growling all the way from the kitchen, someone's definitely grumpy." She laughed.

Lauren smiled despite her bad mood. "I... don't even have anything to say in my defense." The green eyed girl laughed as well. "I'm just kinda nervous about today."

Camila walked up to Lauren's side of the bed and sat beside her. She rested her hand above Lauren's on the mattress. "Everything's gonna be okay, even if we get bad news today. Shit happens, but we will get through this."

"You're amazing." Lauren breathed out, taking hold of Camila's hand and bringing it to her lips for a soft kiss.

"I love you too." Camila happily exclaimed, before leaning down for a kiss on Lauren's forehead. Once she pulled back, she added a chirpy, "Now come, I made you breakfast," and stood up again, heading straight to the kitchen and leaving a smiley Lauren behind.

The previous day had been one of the best, if not the best, ever since she'd come home from the hospital. Lauren had been pretty content and relaxed, happy to be home with her girlfriend and their kitten. Even her headaches had given her a rest, only making themselves known every once in a while, always close to the time she had to take her medicine and always weak. The only thing that could have tainted what would otherwise be a perfect day was the fact that, although Camila had tried to let it go, Lauren knew she'd been somewhat sad about not getting her solo photo shoot. And still, since it was pretty much a free day for the younger Latina, they spent most of It cuddling as they watched TV, which was the best comfort one could hope for, in Lauren's opinion.

The green eyed girl was certain that her peaceful state of mind also had to do with the fact that she'd finally been able to present the Cabellos' case to Detective Norman, and she knew that the few times she'd let her mind wander and her body tense up, it'd been from thinking about the uncertainty that he would open the case and start the investigations again. But that was no match at all for how she'd been feeling for the past week, when all that filled her mind was the Cabellos' murder. Returning the files to the station and presenting the case to the detective had been like lifting a weight off Lauren's shoulders, one heavy enough to trouble her breathing and cloud her mind. She was almost sure that her lack of strong headaches was also due to the fact that she had stopped focusing on the case so much and thinking that hard.
