It was just another ordinary evening in the small village on the edge of the kingdom Zruigan on planet Aeladolon. I just finished sewing the shirt ordered by the family just down the street. I stood up with a sigh of relief. I stretched my arms, as it had been a long day, and I walked to my tiny room at the corner of our small three room house. The rooms are very small as being a seamstress doesn't pay much.
I walked through the short door of my room, of course being 5'3 it didn't bug me much. At the end of my bed, which lay in the center of room, was a small wooden chest. I opened the top and pulled out my silver cloak. Under my cloak my bow and arrow were hiding from my mom. I grabbed the elegant wooden bow my dad had given to me before he died. The bow was wooden with silver engravings on it although I was never quite sure how he was able to afford it.
Flashback
"Dady, where did you get the bow" I asked one day after our archery practice. I was 8 at the time.
Dad replied with "oh Tamara, it was incredible! The dragon that lives at this lake made it" He said outlining the pond with his index finger. "This dragon is magical! And the tips of his scales are silver and that's where the silver engravings at made of."
I giggled and smiled up at him "when can I meet the dragon, Dady?"
"When your older" he smiled and kissed my forehead.
I always thought his stories were ridiculous but little did I know how true they really were.
Flashforward
I smiled looking down at my bow and wiped a few tears from my eyes. I grabbed the arrows, the silver tips glistening in the setting sun. I put on my cloak, swung the quiver over my shoulder, and swiftly jumped out the window, bow in hand, my blond hair flowing behind me in the light breeze.
I quickly and quietly ran through the forest to a small pond, just like the one in my dads stories. This was always the spot he would teach me archery and got to sneak around the forest making little to no sound.
Dad used to be a hunter for the village so he taught me everything he learned. The forest was always our special spot. It has been my favorite place to be ever science...his death.
I took a deep breath as I finally stoves at the pond taking in the familiar view. The blazing sky reflected in the stillness of the pond.
Surrounding the small body on water lay a few scattered rocks and brilliant green grass. I smiled remembering all the times I care here with my dad, and all the fun memories or us practicing archery, or hunting birds.
I lifted my bow, corrected my stance, and pulled an arrow from my quiver placing it against the side of the bow and pulled the string back breathing slowly.
I let go of the this white string. The arrow soared through the air and embedded itself dead center of the little bullseye I made for myself a few days ago only two days after the death of my farther desperate for something to remove my mind from these hard times. I was only 16 and he was already gone.
I pulled out another arrow and put it in place. I released the string freeing the arrow from my grasp and smiled when, of course another bullseye. I pulled out another arrow and repeated the sequence with the same flawless outcome. Smiling I shot one more arrow than headed back home grabbing my arrows from the wooden target as I headed out.
That night I fell asleep quickly with no bad dreams, for once. I had been having bad dreams the last few nights about how my father could have died because no one would tell me how he died.
I woke up early the morning and repeated my daily routine; get up, eat, deliver whatever I had finished the night before, work on the other orders, than sneak out to the woods for more archery.
After awhile I noticed my friend hadn't met me in the woods today. Than I realized he haven't shown up yesterday either. I shrugged it off and took one more shot before heading home, as it was getting late, when I heard a surprised yelp. I jogged over to my arrows to find a gal about my age with a surprised look on her face standing precisely and inch from the sliver of silver buried deep in the oak wood target.
