The gal in the green cloak wouldn't stop pestering me about the dragon...unfortunately. No matter how badly I didn't want to answer I continued to give in.
"Your lying. what is it? Does it have something to do with the dragon scale?" She asked me clearly expecting an honest answer.
"Possibly, why so curious?" I was hopping to keep all this information to myself.
"Assuming you knew the dragon, how long has it been missing?" She asked looking me dead in the eye. Now I had all of her attention.
"2 days or so" I replied not eager to let any other information about my friend slip through my lips.
"And Jaxon disappeared yesterday" she said quietly though my keen ears picked up on it, all her focus on salving this mystery. "I wonder if its connected."
"Look greenie I would really appreciate it if you would get out of my way so I can figure this out" I told her sternly knowing I could do anything needed to find my friend alone, the way I like it.
Greenie only stayed silent pretending not to hear me. She continued to mutter random things about Jaxon, dragons, and that Tenebris character.
I rolled my eyes and shifted my weight to the other side noticing I wasn't being paid attention to. Greenie looked up "is their any reason why Tenebris might want your dragon friend?"
"No idea" I replied knowing only vaguely who Tenebris is.
"Hmmm" She began pacing back and forth starting to mutter again.
"What?" I asked curious about her thoughts on this situation.
"Im just trying to figure out why he would wan't your dragon, if he did take it." She stated quietly.
"What in the world would he want with a prince and a dragon?" I said defeated unable to get a good grasp on the situation at hand.
"Well the prince is obvious, Tenebris wants revenge. You know about the champion war, right?" She asked me.
"Vaguely" I answered half expecting to receive a judgmental look.
"Well the prince Jaxon's elder brother challenged Tenebris' champion to a duel to end the war. The prince won but died later on. Tenebris doesn't like loosing and he wants the kingdom desperately, so that's why he kidnapped Jaxon"
"What a sociopath" I commented not interested on the subject.
"Yeah. I'm surprised you don't know the story." She replied fortunately without a scolding look.
"Well when you live out here you don't get all the hot gossip." I gestured to the small village that couldn't be seen through the thickness of the trees. Which was my favorite reason for coming out here at night.
"It's nine year old gossip..." and there was the scolding look, but I shook it off and decided to reply with a sarcastic comment.
"Exactly, we don't even get nine year old gossip" I frowned thinking about all the possible stories that could come from the kingdom but never made its way out here. Greenie looked up at the sky that was slowly becoming darker and darker.
"Okay" I began "so if he wants the prince for revenge, what's the dragon for?" The weals in my head were turning trying to find some sort of connection yet I came up with nothing...
"I dunno!" the gal practically yelled in frustration.
"Okay, okay chill" I answered the tiniest irritated.
