"Who are you?" I asked annoyed.
"Perhaps I should ask you that, I mean, you did shoot an arrow at me" the gal in the dark green cloak stated with a surprised look on her face that for some reason really annoyed me.
"And I'm the problem here?" I replied. Even I could hear the annoyance dripping from my voice. "You need to be more aware of your surroundings" My impoliteness was surprising even me. Something about this gal just wasn't sitting well with me.
"I was paying attention, your arrow came out of nowhere!" she snapped back.
I rolled my eyes at an attempt to look as though I didn't care what she was saying to me. Her tone was bringing back too many painful memories. Sourly I replied defensively "What the heck are you doing out at this time of night anyways?" I crossed my arms over my chest taking a defensive stance beginning to feel uncomfortable.
I noticed the gal quickly shifting at an attempt to hide the small bag she had slung across her shoulders. "Just...going for a walk" she stated slow to come up with the saddest excuse for a lie i had ever heard.
No mater how hard I tried I couldn't bring myself to force a smile to seem as though I believed her even the slightest bit. I replied sarcastically "right, and i'm the queen Zurigan." I let out a little giggle at my comment having never been a fan of the "royals". Even thinking about it makes me sick. They are so petty and get everything easily handed to them while we are out here doing all their hard work. We barely even get paid!
My competitor paused giving me a long look that was a little edgy on my end. "Fine. I'm not going for a walk. I'm going to find my friend."
"Your friend hu?" I asked. My mind was racing attempting to find another witty comment just as good as the last one. "And who's that? Your cat?" I glared at her not as impressed with my comment as I had hopped to be but as long as I can get to her, I am satisfied.
"No actually, the prince," She said that with such confidence as if she was impressed with herself for looking for someone who was most likely only trying to get away from the snobs of the kingdom such as this narky gal standing right in front of me. "I don't expect someone who is sneaking around the forest to understand that though" The finished obviously annoyed with my comments, good.
"Look who's talking. your clearly walking aimlessly through the forest, at least I know what i'm doing" I snapped at her bothered by the hypocrisy of her actions and words.
"Look silvy, i'm losing hours that I can't afford to. So stop pestering me so I can go and help him" The gal was staring up at the sky obviously not noticing my miffed reaction to the nickname she had given me.
"Well aren't you just a little ray of pitch black" I smirked turning on my heels to walk away sick of doing this continuous dance with her.
"I could say the same about you!" Her voice was calling after me and I tried my hardest not to spin around and bite back. "Hmm whats this?" I hear her mumbles fade behind me.
"Hope you find your prince" is scoffed "besides I have a mystery I need to solve and the found of your voice is making my brain cells commit suicide one by one." My thoughts drifted off the the fact that I hand't seen my friend in 2 days now and it was beginning to worry me. I suddenly stopped, remembering my arrows, I slowly turned back not in a hurry to be anywhere near this numpty brat.
As I was heading to the tree to obtain my arrows I caught her roll her eyes annoyed. She was staring at some shiny object that was weirdly shaped though I could only see a small portion of it. I heard a small gasp coming from her direction but I ignored it anxious to get away from her, although I am still not completely sure as to why.
I ripped my arrows out of the tree. It required much force seeing how they were embedded half way into the tree. I stumbled back at last able to break the arrows free. As I stumbled back I bumped into the gal. I quickly regained my balance and my eyes were drawn to the small object.
My curiosity got the best of me and I bent over to get a better look at the object that flew out of the brown haired gal's hand. I turned in around in my hand "Oh no" I mumbled. I would recognize that anywhere! It was most certainly a dragon scale. More specifically, the scale belonging to my one and only friend. I let out a gasp unwillingly not able to hold back. Of course by doing that the gal's eyes snapped right up to mine.
"What?" She said anxiously with the slightest bit of annoyance swimming in her voice.
I looked up at her and I could feel distressed showing clearly on my face. "Um...nothing...it's nothing." I replied unable to come up with an excuse. My mind was racing. Of course there would be a scale here. Right? I mean me and him come here all the time. I attempted to reassure myself though I knew something was wrong.
