chapter twenty four

"Hey, mom?" You call down from the top of the stairs.

"Yes, honey?" She says back, "why don't you come down."

You walk down the stairs to see your mom and dad sitting on the couch. You hadn't seen your dad since he left you and your mom alone when you were four years old.

"Dad?" Your voice was low, barley audible. "Hey sweetie" your dad greets. He opens his arms expecting a hug, but you stay put.

He lets his arms down and hangs his head, knowing what you're thinking of.

Warm tears gather at the bottom of your eyes, threatening to fall down.

"Why is he here" you say to your mother yet not daring to keep your eyes off of your dad.

"He wants to support you now" she says. You shake your head and squint your eyes.

"Now? After all this time, you want to support me now? That makes no sense. You leave us, go off and do god knows what and you think you can just come back like nothing happened?!" You were screaming now. Tears all over your face.

"I'm not pretending like it never happened, I'm done hiding and I want to be here for you" your father says calmly.

"Well that's to bad, because it's not happening" you wipe your tears from under your eyes.

"It's not your choice" your parents say in sync.

"I don't care! I'm going to Grays house. Bye mom, see you later" your dad gives her a confused look. Your mom looks down, then back up at you.

"You can't leave. I'm not letting you"

"Well it's not up to you right now. I need him and neither of you are stopping me" you grab your jacket and leave the front door, your father in shock.

Your moms POV

"What was she talking about?" Liam says to me.

"She has a boyfriend. They've been together for almost eight months now and they're stuck like glue. They go everywhere together and he's made her a better person. I just don't feel comfortable with-" he cuts me off.

"If he makes her happy, let them be. That's all I want for her" Liam's hand comes up to place itself on my shoulder.

I nod. "Okay."

Your POV

You pull out your phone and place your thumb on the home button, unlocking it and immediately going to your contacts.

You click on Grayson's and call him. He answers after the second ring.

"Hey baby" he says cheerfully. You sniffle and you can tell he became worried. Without you saying anything, he becomes aware that you're crying.

"What happened? Are you okay? I'm coming over" he says in a rush.

"No, I'm already on my way" you start the car and pull out. You put your phone on speaker and place it on the center console.

"You can't drive like that" he says.

"I'll be fine gray, I promise" your tears blurred your vision.

"What happened?" He asks again.

"My dad wants to come back into my life after he left for thirteen years" you hold back your sobs.

"But I thought your parents were together?"

"No, they're not. I'm sorry I didn't tell you" you say.

"It's okay, I just want to know you're fine"

"I'm not but I will be" he had a lot of questions.

Grayson runs to your car when he sees you in front of his house and pulls you out of the car once you put it in park. He hugs you tightly.

You cry harder into his shirt and he takes you into his home.

"Shhh it's okay, y/n" he soothes. Eventually you stop crying and catch your breath.

You haven't seen your dad in thirteen years. He bought you a car but you only took it because there was no way you could give it to someone else or return it.

Anything he sent you your mom wouldn't let you do anything to get rid of it.

You laid on Grayson's bed, covered in blankets with pillows all around you. He came back with Ethan and some ice cream.

"I'm sorry kiddo" Ethan says as he lays next to you, hugging you.

"Watch it, E" Grayson warns, making you laugh.

"Aww there's that beautiful smile" Grayson says. He opens the container and places a spoon inside, handing it to you and tells Ethan to back off because it's for you.

Alyssa comes rushing into the room and nearly falls.

"I got your text," she says to Grayson, "Who the fuck do I have to fight?! Who did this and why is she crying?!" Alyssa shouts.

You bust out laughing when you see Alyssa like that. Everyone looks at you and smiles, glad that you're laughing.

"I called her over because she's your best friend, duh" Grayson says.

"Thank you guys" you say to everyone, "but can Gray and I be here alone please?" You ask. Ethan and Alyssa nod and walk out of the room.

"Did you want to talk about something?" He asks once they leave. He sits on the bed then lays down next to you.

You place a blanket over him and he cuddles you.

"No, I just needed to be here alone with you. Thank you for everything, you really are the best boyfriend" he kisses the top of your head and you could feel the smile forming on his lips.

"Anything for you, baby girl" he whispers.
