Holy shit I've been away a while. Like, a while while. I don't really have an explanation tbh with you I just kinda forgot I'd got a book to write and I had exams haha. Anyways, enjoy x
(Yes I know the timeline makes no sense but shhhhhh)

"Will you marry me?"

"Yes"

And as her hair turned pink with excitement, his heart twinged with regret. He somehow formed a limp smile, watery as it may have been. He was happy, he told himself, not really believing it in the slightest.

"Congratulations, Remus." He managed to choke out, feigning some enthusiasm.

"Thank you." Remus was grinning, but his eyes didn't seem to reflecting the same happiness. Or at least Sirius hoped they weren't.

He pushed greasy dark hair out of his eyes and made his way up to his room, not saying a further word to anyone. The door creaked open and, as the old wood groaned audibly, so did Sirius.

He collapsed on the bed with a slight "oof" and felt the harsh sheets with his fingers. They slowly melted into much softer ones as he closed his grey eyes.

It was almost as if he'd gone back almost 20 years, and he could feel the dim light peeking through the curtains of his four poster bed. But now he wasn't alone.

His hand was intertwined with another, much larger one and there was short, shallow breathing on his neck. Sirius looked down to see a head of dark blond hair laid elegantly on his chest, and an arm wrapped protectively around his stomach. It was a peace he had not felt for a wicked eternity.

He knew it wasn't real, he knew that he was just reminiscing a beautiful time; yet, he let himself be lulled into the gentle and false sense of reciprocated love.

"I know you're awake" spoke the blond haired boy. He sat up and laid on top of Sirius even though he was much taller. Large feet hung clumsily off of the end of the bed as he buried his face into Sirius' neck.

Sirius could almost feel the warm comfort from those few sloppy kisses. Almost.

"Remus..." he whispered gently, pulling him away. Their faces met, noses almost touching. Sirius couldn't remember the last time he had stared into these eyes, so blissful and loving. Whenever he looked into them now they were scornful and hating. Sirius couldn't even blame him for hating him, he had done a wicked thing.

But, as he looked into Remus' eyes now, all of that seemed to melt away. The cold amber softened to warm honey, and his eyes sparkled in the sunlight. It was perfect: too perfect.

"Hi" Remus spoke softly. Sirius was almost taken aback, he had not heard Remus talk with him that way in so long. He was used to harsh venom being spat at him, or despondent replies that were necessary but never wanted.

Sirius looked at their hands intertwined beside him, and that's when the illusion shattered: it wasn't his hand.

He released the grip and pulled the hand towards his face. There was chipped purple nail varnish on stubby, short fingers. There was a scar on the pinky finger, and he knew instantly who's hands they were.

He felt sick.

He tugged on a strand of hair and pulled it in front of his eyes: it was pink.

"I love you" he said, except it didn't sound like him at all.

"I love you too, Nymphadora"
