"Pound it!" Paris's resident heros connected their fists in the signature congratulatory action, signifying another battle won. Another former-akuma was consoled and sent on their way. Another sigh of relief.

Ladybug's earrings emitted a familiar beep, warning her of her near detransformation. "That's my cue, Chat."

"M'lady, I'm begging you." Chat Noir pleaded, eyes full of desperation. "Please let me see who's under the mask."

Ladybug drew back, rubbing her bicep anxiously. "We can't, Chat. It's too dangerous."

"But what if it isn't?"

Ladybug stopped in her tracks, looking up to her feline-themed partner in shock. "What?"

"What if it isn't?" Chat repeated, insistent. "What if nothing goes wrong and all that happens is we get closer?"

Ladybug opened her mouth to argue, but nothing came out. Chat's eyes and his words were weighing on her. She sighed before giving a soft smile. "Alright, Chat."

"Wait- really?" The cat's face light up like a kid on Christmas. "Yes!"

Ladybug giggled before taking a deep breath and dropping her transformation.

Marinette frowned, slowly pushing open the classroom door. Thick silence blanketed the school and she surveyed the empty desks before her eyes came to rest on Miss Bustier standing at the front.

She hesitantly approached the still teacher. "Miss Bustier? Where is everyone?"

The teacher's eyes snapped open and Marinette found herself face to face with two empty eye sockets. "They're in danger, Ladybug. Because you revealed yourself."

Marinette gasped and took a few steps back, quickly bumping into something solid. She spun around to face a scared Alya. "Alya? Alya, are you okay?"

". . . why. . ." Alya choked out, tears building in her eyes. "Why did you put us all in danger like that?" Blood tears ran down the girl's face as her volume raised to scream at her best friend. "You're supposed to protect us, Ladybug! But you've killed us all!"

Marinette back away. "N-No! I didn't. . ."

"I still had a lot of life left, dude." Nino shook his head, crossing his arms. "And you took it away."

"You left my dad alone!" Myléne accused, wiping her eyes. "How could you?!"

"What about my little brother?"

"I thought you were supposed to save us!"

"How could you do this to us?!"

Marinette covered her ears as her classmates surrounded her, screaming more accusations and crying ever louder.

Adrien stood in front of her, wearing the most heartbroken expression. "Do you expect me to love you after this? After you've let us die?" Tears poured from his eyes. "Just like my mother?"

She shoved past and darted out the classroom door, slamming the bakery door behind her.

She looked around. "Maman? Papa?" She moved slowly forward. "Where are you?"

"Hello, Ladybug~" A sinister voice rang out as the words were written on the wall's. "I'm afraid you won't find your precious parents here."

"No. . ." Marinette's horror-stricken eyes swept the bakery as the hundreds of white butterflies stared at her. "This. . . this can't be real!"

"Oh, but I'm afraid it is~"

The butterflies took flight and surrounded her as she started screaming, falling to her knees and trying to block out everything. They spun faster and she kept screaming, screaming, screaming. . .

"No!" Marinette bolted upright, cold sweat encasing her body as she gasped for breath. Once she recognized her bedroom in the dim light, her body trembled as she sobbed. The screams of her friends still rang in her ears, pieces of her heart breaking each time.

She slowly straightened, wiping her eyes before closing them. "I'm sorry, Chat."

Ladybug's blood ran cold as she froze, squeezing her eyes shut. A single drop of liquid rolled down her face as she turned and flung her yoyo far away. "I'm sorry, Chat."

And she disappeared.

Okay, Zee again. Sage will finish her chapter sometime. Until then, you're stuck with me.

This one's a little longer, but just as bad, so I apologize.

Remember in the last chapter how I mentioned we had stayed up all night? Well, I had been up longer than Sage, and I was over 24 hours without sleep. I got home, passed out, and slept through and entire day.

Don't do that, I guess.

Alright, tired girl out.
