I was in the tall prairie grass. My body; numb. Depression clouded my head with a pounding delusional headache. I collapsed toward the ground.
“Zale,” I softly say.
His golden hair dashes like lightening to me.
“What’s wrong?” he asked confused and worried.
“Help me,” I say as I spit out blood.
“I’m here to save you, don’t worry,” his soothing voice says as he kisses me upon my forehead.
“Just.. help”
“Don’t worry, everything will be alright.”
He was like my guardian angel.
“But.. Zale,” my voice whimpers. “I’m so... so.. weak.”
“Trust me, everything will be alright.”
My eyes then closed softly and slowly.
“Aniela!” my mother yelled at the top of her lungs.
“What?” I groaned.
“It’s time for dinner get down here!” she once again yells.
I groan once more.
I try picking up my body off of my bed, but my body and mind tell me otherwise. My head felt although it was spinning around in circles. What in the hell was my dream just about? There was no way Zale could ever be by my side. I feel overly confused. What should I truly believe? Was he saved or dead out in that field? Questions made my brain full of curiosity and wonder.
I drag my useless body down the wooden stairs towards the kitchen. There stood my father and mother impatiently waiting to start eating dinner. Both of my parents looked annoyed and hungry, while in the meantime I didn't care what they thought or did.
"How was this afternoon?" my mother asked.
"Eh, it was okay," I boringly said.
"Why just okay?" my father then demanded.
"Why are you two both so nosy?" I requested.
"Honey-"
"Don't honey me!" I spat.
"What's wrong Aniela?" my mom asked.
"Nothing is wrong," I stated as I began to sound annoyed.
"Well you normally say-"
"Well today isn't normal!" I blar to my father. "Today is different. It's new and it isn't like any other day. Normal is what I am not."
"We're sorry for asking dear," my dad says in an apologetic tone.
"It's fine, just pass me the potatoes."
My mother lifted up the bowl and gave it to me. There was some look on her face. Some look that I couldn't even describe. Her eyes soon filled up with a river of water in her eye lids, waiting to explode into a cascading waterfall. She got up from the table and walked up to her room, and my father followed her. I was awkwardly left at the table with dinner just glared at me.
