when jeongguk awoke, he was in utter confusion. he was laying on a random couch, with a random blanket, and next to him, on the floor laid a random boy.
his heart rose to his throat.
where am i? how did i get here?
all of a sudden, the events of the night before came flooding to his memory.
{ Flashback to last night }
jeongguk knew what his night was going to be like. the forecast held thunderstorms for the night, and the sky above was beginning to show it. he began skidding down the sidewalk in desperate attempt to get around, feeling the anxiety rising like the umbrellas of people around him.
he was almost reluctant to going out, but he needed to get a refill on his anxiety medication at the pharmacy, and decided that it was a higher priority to him.
however, when he arrived, the pharmacist behind the counter told him:
"i apologize mr. jeon jeongguk, your prescription is not ready yet. you can come back tomorrow to retrieve your pills."
"b-but i need them! you have to understand sir, plea-"
"no can do, i'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience," said the man in a monotone voice.
with that, jeongguk stormed out of the store, tears welling up in his eyes.
back on the sidewalk, he stormed between people, getting a few "watch where you're going"s and glares here and there.
and then, a huge raindrop splattered on his scalp.
he let out a strained gasp and started speed-walking, as fast as he could go with out running into people. he watched the sidewalk, as the rain caused reflections of lights on the road to blur into each other.
"ah!"
jeongguk barely registered that he was falling until he hit the ground with a hard slam.
the next words spoken to jeongguk sounded like they were said from underwater. his hearing was leaving him, and he knew he was going to pass out soon.
"oh my goodness are you okay? do you need me to call the ER!? what should i-"
there was a short pause-
"jeongguk?"
after hearing his name, the auburn-haired boy froze like a glacier. his vision was hazy, his clothes beginning to soak through.
"jeongguk, is that you?"
tears began to stream from jeongguk's eyes. this situation was too much for him. he was supposed to be at home, sleeping, not laying in a poorly paved alley. the pain was beginning to kick in, his head aching severely.
to make the situation worse, fate decided to trigger jeongguk's phobia. the biggest eruption he has ever heard rumbled and shook him to the core.
"th-thunder," he sobbed out in agony.
he felt the symptoms of his anxiety taking a toll on his body. his hands trembled uncontrollably, his heat rate was going at a thousand miles per hour.
jeongguk choked on his words when he felt a pair hands glide under his back and move his body against gravity. he was to much of an emotional wreck to react normally.
the last words he spoke came tumbling out of his mouth.
"w-what are y-you"
before his sentence could finish, a wave of nausea swept over him, and he fell unconscious in someone's arms.
{ End of Flashback }
they must have- carried me to their house.
jeongguk rolled over and took another look at the boy who was sleeping on the floor.
to his surprise, it wasn't some random boy. he recognized his face.
the guy from the cafe...taehyung.
embarrassment heated jeongguk's cheeks and ears as he realized that this guy had seen him in his astraphobic state... on two separate occasions.
when the thought passed his mind, he heard a stir from the floor and almost let a squeal of alarm out of his mouth. with his eyes squeezed shut, he strained his ears for more sound.
"jeongguk, you awake?" taehyung said in a deep, sleepy groan.
his voice alone was enough to cause color to find its way to the 'sleeping' boy's cheeks. a little bit flustered, he cracked one eye open, the other slowly following suit.
above him stood the blonde in all his glory. his t-shirt was partially hanging off his shoulder, and his hair stood in all directions.
"'morning," he whispered, and grinned.
