Two weeks later
"Cooper Kaye Travis, that's my name, and I'm a schizophrenic freak. I've been at the institution for two weeks now. It's very cold to me, not sure why but I don't really believe I belong here. It's like one thing happens to me and then everyone decides to turn my world upside down even though I feel completely normal. Anyway I'm not super "popular" ,at least not in the way I would like to be, at the institution. I'm known as Sick Mind, even to the guards. It's not all bad though, every day during lunch, a younger guard doberman would stand close enough to me so that I could sneak him food. It doesn't help his focus but I'm sure he doesn't mind too much. Last tues. we were served tacos... that dog loves tacos. It devoured them faster than anything I've ever seen before. I couldn't help but snicker a little, and of course the guard heard me. Again I'm not quite sure why, but when the guard started yelling at me I blacked out again. When I came to, I saw the horror that lay before me in the form of the corpse. No one else had noticed yet except for the dog. He snarled at me at first, almost as if he were scolding me, but then he stopped and walked over to me and rested his head on my shoulder in sympathy. His puppy hug almost made me emotional but I sucked it up like a man is supposed to. Also, I had to give him a name instead of "the dog". So I decided to call him Taco. It might sound cheesy and it is, but it just seemed to fit. Taco was really well trained and he knew the institution of the back of his hand, or his paw. He was able to lead me away from the crowd hopefully unnoticed. We hid in an old janitor closet, where I found an old security guard uniform. As I was putting it on, I caught Taco simply staring at me, almost confused.
"What? do you have a better idea?"
He snuffed at me and pushed open the door. He lead me around back and we were so close to door I could almost taste the freedom, when...
"Excuse me sir, I'm going to have to ask you for an ID."
I froze. The officer ordered me to release the hound and put my hands over my head. As he approached me, my vision began to blur but this time I didn't have enough time to black out. Taco barked at the officer warning him to back down, and when he didn't.. Taco jumped. I had to physically pull him away from the guard, his jaws were locked on. I checked for a pulse, but I wasn't surprised to find there wasn't one.
"You can not just kill people, Taco! But...thank you" I shook my head and we continued on to the door, to our freedom.
