Rejecting Him

This is so peculiar. Why is Terrance Hemingway gazing at me? I know his liquidly chocolate brown eyes stared back at me like he was trying to construe my mind. Though I'm not looking back at him, I can sense that he's looking at me. Like he's trying to get my attention. Which he has been trying to do since the beginning of the school year. It's very odd that he's taking an AP class, especially AP Calculus. Let alone that he's in all of my classes!

Why I'm blabbing about Terrance Hemingway? Well because he's like the totally six-pack, sex god out of Earth hot! Unfortunately, I haven't seen him shirtless nor have I ever seen a guy shirtless before. Which is sad. Though I've heard the girls he had slept around that he indeed has a six pack as one of them was, licking his abs with whipped cream on...

He has a six pack, got it? Yeah, you can say I have virgin eyes or something but this isn't the case. Terrance is a slacker and never does his work. I'm taken by surprise that the beginning of our senior year he has started to talk to me. Mostly our conversations are the assignments that our teacher assigned or because he needs help. I would sometimes catch him looking at me, he would blush and look quickly away. Terrance the town's biggest player blushing?! Well isn't that amusing?

But what I heard from Terrance to his friends, is that his father has bribed him to be the one and only sole heir to his fortune and properties if he takes any advanced classes this year.

What confuses me is that Terrance lives in a very wealthy community of wolves called, Crystal Moon. Our 'community' isn't a pack nor is it ruled by an Alpha. Instead were ruled by the six 'great' councilmen. And one of the councilmen is Terrance's father. Yes, he's a werewolf, I am too so is also half of the population in the state.

"Eliza, what did you get on the test?" Asked my best friend Colleen. I looked away from Terrance not before I saw that blush creeped along his cheeks, again. Why is he blushing? Is he trying to play me? Is this some sort of game he is playing like he romped with the other shewolves?

"Ugh," I said looking down at the test on my desk. "I got a ninety-two percent," I said proudly shoving the test in her shocked face. Colleen and I had this thing where we competed for the best grades. I always have the higher grades though and Colleen never takes her schooling seriously and I don't even know why we are even competing.

"Shit I got a sixty-four on it." She said glaring down at the test it looked like her eyes would shoot blazing lasers at her test. I did not mean to brag but I couldn't help myself.

Trying to lighten the mood, "Colleen you did perfectly fine no need to go bulky." I teased her.

"You don't understand Eliza I need a scholarship so I can go to college, get a career, and a job. So by the time I have found my mate, I would not have to be supported by him." She said soberly tapping her fingers on the test.

"But you'll be eighteen in a few months and you're going to find your mate soon after," I whispered to her knowing there were humans still in this classroom. I don't even know why was I even whispering humans already know about us and that both werewolves and humans live in great harmony.

"Eliza when I do find my mate I'll reject him. Until I have a steady career and enjoy life to the fullest. You should do the same not to mention your birthday is in what? Two days?" She whispered but I heard a distant growl behind us and I dared to look back to see it was Terrance.

His intense deadly gaze was locked in the back of Colleen's dirty blonde hair, like he wanted to attack her. Which scared the Cheetos out of me I looked back at Colleen who didn't seem to have heard Terrance's growl she was too engrossed in the lecture our teacher was giving.

What was wrong with Terrance?

The murderous stare seemed to continue like forever and I wasn't able to concentrate on the lecture if Terrance looked like he was going to pounce on Colleen any second from now. Without realizing I turned back on my seat and stared straight at Terrance hoping to get his attention. Instantly I have gotten his attention and his dark murderous expression softened and another expression I couldn't quite read.

We continued to stare straight at each other. His liquid brown eyes seemed to have turned lighter and sorrowful in sadness...

'I'm sorry'... His soft voice entered my mind.

Wait! What hold on?! Did he just mind-linked me?!

I stared back at him in confusion whose expression was now solemn. I was about to open my big mouth about what just happened when the teacher Mr. Sarss interrupted me.

"Eliza what's the answer for number 16." He asked tapping on the whiteboard with his black expo marker.

Oh, Cheetos...

*^*^*^*

The rest of the school day went out as a blur and next thing you know I was at sweet ol' home but it was chaotic when I first made the step on the sticky dirty wooden floor.

"Aunt Elizaaaaa!" Screamed my six-year-old cousin as her scribbled sticky arms went around to hang on my legs. She deeply needed a shower her face was covered in chocolate and there were ramen noodles in her tangled brown hair. I don't even want to know how those got in her hair and her fingers were covered in a brown substance.

"Hi, Penny where's your mother?" I asked her as I carefully untangled her sticky arms around my legs. The whole living room was a mess toys dotted the floor, and broken crayons, and blankets were everywhere. Not to mention how the kitchen looked like when I spotted my mother with my sister's son in her arms. She looked terribly tired as she was fiddling around the kitchen.

"Hi Mother," I told her giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi Eliza how was school today?" She asked as she took a bottle from the counter and started to feed the baby.

"The same, how about you? You look tired where are Veronica and Martha." I asked helping myself some apple juice from the fridge.

"They went to go buy some baby food and diapers since we ran out." My mother smiled and looked up at me. "You know I can't wait for you to find your mate and settle down with pups. Just like your sisters." She said pleasure filling her eyes.

Oh no not this again...

Why does she need more pups to fill out the house and not to mention mess it up?

"Mom I'm not eighteen yet," I whined I didn't want to touch the subject of me finding myself a mate and having pups..

"You will be in two days and once that happens you will move in with him, drop out of school, and give me grandchildren." She said sternly saying it like it was the law. Gosh, she was crazy.

I always wished that I was born fully human instead of being born half werewolf.

"But mother I want to continue school," I said I was afraid of what she'll say next. But I knew what she was going to say because we had this same conversation since I could remember.

"If he lets you go on than yes but, if he doesn't allow it then you shall obey your mate." She said.

"But-"

"No buts go up and wash up so you can help me clean the house before your father comes home from work." She interrupted me ending our discussion.

I walked towards the stairs thinking that my mother had no idea that once I turned eighteen and had found my mate...

I'm going to reject him...
