"We need to talk."

Talk? What about?

"Okay." You replied, confused by the whole situation. You leaned forward - elbows gently resting on the desk while you laced your fingers together. Resting your chin on your laced fingers, you continued, "What's up? Is everything okay?"

She glanced back over to your computer, biting her lip for a moment. She looked deep in thought, so you gave her a moment to figure out whatever it was that needed figuring out. Her eyes were hard, though her demeanor suggested that she was completely comfortable. Did she have something to say about Bucky? She's been looking at the picture for quite some time...

The screen to your computer turned black, little stars twinkling as your screen saver booted up. She blinked, shaking her head a little as she broke from her thoughts.

"I heard what you said." She cleared her throat before continuing, "To your mom, I mean."

"What?" You felt your brows pull together, remembering the awful fight with your mother. "There was a lot of things I said... Which part are you talking about?"

"You said you loved him."

Oh.

Shit.

You did say that.

"I... I did say that." You gulped, a blush flaming your cheeks.

"Did you mean it?" She asked, voice void of emotion. Her face was blank, not giving any emotions away. "Do you love him?"

You bit your lip for a moment, thinking it over. You'd said it to your mother in the heat of the moment, but... You loved him. You couldn't imagine life without him, even without the soulmate bond. In just the few short months you'd known him, he'd become one of the best things that ever happened to you. He'd become your best friend. He'd become the first person you'd think about in the morning, and the last person you'd think about before falling asleep.

You loved him with your whole heart.

A small smile lifted your lips as you leaned back in your chair, tracing your fingertip along the soulmate mark on your forearm, "I haven't exactly said it to him, yet, but... yes."

"Dammit." She sighed, closing her eyes with a pained expression.

What?

Why did she look so upset about it?

"What's wrong with that?" You asked, a small pang of defense in your chest. "Why do you look like you're about to tell me something awful?"

"Because I am." She lifted her arm, hand coming up to pinch the bridge of her nose. She took a deep breath, and you prepared yourself for this 'awful news' she had to tell you. When her eyes opened, she continued in a soft voice. "Bucky and I were... we were sleeping together." She continued before you had any time to react. "It was before you came along... and a little while after."

"Oh." You frowned, jealousy leaving a pit in your stomach. "How... How long... after I met Bucky?"

"Only a week... but..." She sighed, opening her eyes, "He told me it needed to end, because he wanted to be with you."

The green-eyed jealousy monster backed off, but only slightly.

You're an adult, Y/n. It was before you were really together. You can't blame them for what happened before you were together. You couldn't even blame them for being together in the very, very early stages of your relationship.
