I float at the edge of the dark water, listening to the faint shrieks and whimpers of the park's other inhabitants. It disgusts me, the lack of respect that InGen has for their creations. Even the half-humans don't get treated as anything other than animals.
I throw my head back and howl, letting out my anger at the techs who made me this monster. Somewhere in the distance lightning flashes and thunder cracks. I slip back under the water's surface, wanting to hide from the few who would seek to sedate me so I'll be quiet.
The ripples calm as I swim slowly through the kelp and seagrass at the bottom of my enclosure. Fish swim around me, darting away from the monster I've become. I want to scream, to throw myself over the tall water gates and escape.
The tree's branches creak under our weight as we leap along, but the techs never catch on to where we actually are. They follow the paths left by the normal raptors, paths made long ago when the normals lived in this area, back before this became the outdoor paddock for us.
Blue is a few feet ahead of me, moving with far more self confidence as he goes from tree to tree.
I wish I had his powerful confidence. I've slipped and almost fallen many times because I thought I couldn't do it. I start leaping with more strength, more speed, and catch up to Blue.
The trees thin out up ahead. I catch glimpses of deep blue and the cool gray of concrete before we drop to the ground and I see that we've reached the marina. This is where he lives. The other one like us.
Blue lets out a warbling cry, his voice given over to instinct and he sounds just like a raptor. A mournful cry answers him, vibrating the water and my bones. The cool blue ripples and rises up, something rearing up from the water. Whatever it is, it's the same size as the original Mosasaur.
His head breaks the surface, followed by his shoulders. I stare at the dark navy/gray scales spattering his skin, at the 15 meter half-human before me. His hair is the same color as his scales, his eyes a golden yellow similar to my gold scales. What did InGen do to him to make his human component the same size as his Mosasaur component?
He nods to Blue, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. His gaze shifts to me. He leans down, resting his hands on the concrete edge and resting his head on his hands. I notice the pale navy scales on his hands, a row of darker gray scales under his eyes.
"Hey, Blue, who's this?"
His voice isn't louder because he's bigger than us, if anything his voice is quiet. The tone of his voice isn't curious or dismissive or even disgusted. He sounds....sad....almost as though he feels sorry for me, as though he was hoping I'd be human and not have had to go through the recombinant.
Blue smiles at me and then addresses the Mosasaur.
"His name is Indie. He's the Indoraptor hybrid. We're going to escape tonight and we thought you might be able to help us. I overheard some guests talking about Megalo by the way. So sorry for the loss."
His golden eyes mist over with tears, but he dries his eyes before any droplets fall.
"Thanks Blue. I'm really gonna miss him."
A/N: yes the Mosasaur is gay as well and yes Megalo is the Megalodon hybrid and yes I will make a story for them called Deep Sea Hearts.
Then Mosa does something unexpected. He smiles and crosses his arms over his stomach.
"At least I'll have someone to remember him by."
Blue smiles too, and I don't get it. He explains it to me.
"No matter our human gender, our dinosaur components were all female so we have the ability to reproduce no matter what."
Ohhhh. Then why was he saying he'd be mated to a female?
He sees my confusion.
"The strongest memory from my human component was my old parents giving me up for the project simply because I was gay. They didn't care that I wouldn't remember them, they just wanted me gone. So I tried to hide it when I remembered in this form."
I blush a little more. So Blue does like me like that? He does think of me as more than a friend? The happiness bursting in my chest feels like fireworks. Blue smiles at me, warmly. He goes back go speaking with Mosa but I don't feel ignored I know we have limited time.
The techs could find us any minute now.
Footsteps on the concrete behind us make me jump and spin around. Another half human is walking towards us, but her appearance is similar to a cervitaur in that her lower half is that of a Brachiosaur, with small crests barely hidden by her pale gray-green hair curving on either side of her head. Her bright eyes are a pale brown, like a deer's fur. Her scales extend up her abdomen, thinning out around her shoulders and her collarbones.
A/N: okay I know what you're thinking why doesn't the Brachiosaur have on a shirt, her scales cover her chest and she's really flat chested anyways so get your minds out of the gutter.
Blue turns around too, stopping midsentence to address her.
"Hey Brachy. You okay?"
She smiles at Blue. Her voice is melodic and tired.
"Yes I'm fine little raptor. Do you know where Ptyro is?"
Blue shakes his head sadly.
"Indie caused the breakdown with the servers but I don't know if the techs were diverted from her habitat."
Wait I did what? There was a mechanical noise when I broke out....could my breaking the electrode fence have shut down the park servers?
The girl nods.
"Maybe Ptyro will show up soon."
Her words are echoed by wingbeats before another girl crashes into her from the sky. Her wings wrap around Brachy and her bright yellow hair falls around her shoulders. Her wings and scales are a pretty gray-gold color similar to Mosa's eyes. When Ptyro drops to the ground I see that she has a short tail swaying happily behind her.
Mosa laughs quietly.
"So, we gonna go and get Stego and Onco, Ceros and Dako?"
