The outside world is decimated by a virus that the half-humans and normals are immune to. However this virus will kill humans. The result of a kamikaze organization that sympathized with the normals and the half-humans and wanted to give them a world without humans. About 20% of the human population was saved and relocated to a series of islands similar to Isla Nublar; man made islands.
Of these five islands, the original Isla Nublar is still closest to the mainland. This is where our story takes place. Humanity will be confined to the islands, but the normals and half-humans will escape and take over the rest of the land.
The half-humans will transport the normals that can't fly or swim via boats.
