Brad told me that when school was over everyday I should walk to Jack's house with Jack and Brad would pick me up sometime later. So after school, I walked home with Jack. I look at Jack while we're walking. "So how did you find out about people like me?" I ask him. He shrugs. "It's Brad's whole life to study people like you. It's all he ever talks about. He talks about you like you're his own daughter. Like he likes you more than me. I've grown up knowing about you." He tells me. "Funny. I never knew about you." I say. Jack stops for a second, so I do too. "I wish you would've." He says, with a tiny smile on his face. Then, we keep walking. We eventually stop in front of a one story redbrick house. I smile. It looked nice. "I haven't been to an actual house since my dad died." I tell Jack. He looks at me sympathetically. "Well, it's not much, but it's home to me." Jack says. "Well, thanks for letting me stay here after school." I say. He smiles. "It's no problem. My parents aren't home yet, but we can do our homework, I guess, unless there's something else you want to do." He suggests. I shrug. "I can't think of anything." I tell him. So, he unlocks the door to the house and we both step in. As soon as we walk in, the living room is to the left. In the living room are two couches, a tv, bookshelves, and a coffee table filled with magazines and an assortment of books. The top book in the stack is my favorite, pride and prejudice. I go over to the coffee table and pick up pride and prejudice. "I love this book!" I exclaim. Jack raises his eyebrows. "You know how to read?" He questions. I nod. "Brad taught me how to read. One of the only favors he's ever done for me." I explain. "I've never read it. Those are my mom's books." Jack tells me. I run my hand along the cover. I had never owned my own copy. "Will you read it to me?" Jack asks. I smile. "Of course."
I'm going to try to publish a new chapter at least once a week sometimes there'll be an extra chapter published. Anyway, school starts back next week. Sigh. Hopefully I'll survive not being killed by a bunch of seniors.
