Austin and I walked across the field to a lone tree on top of a hill. I was carrying a basket with our food and drinks, and Austin was carrying the blanket. We reached the top of the hill and Austin laid out the blanket, and I put down the basket. “This is such a beautiful day.” I said looking at the sky.

Austin looked at me then at the sky, “Perfect day for a picnic, and first date.” I smiled at him, he sat down and patted the floor for me to sit down next to him.

I sat down crossing my legs, “So what do we have to eat today?”

He smiled and opened the basket, then started pulling out the food and drinks, “Two sandwiches, two apples, two water bottles, and a piece cake that my mom made.” He laughed and I laughed with him.

“Sounds delicious. Let’s eat.” I said grabbing a sandwich and a bottled water. Eating was kind of awkward, but I mainly just watched the kids and their families play down below. I would glance at Austin to make sure he was still there and this wasn’t all just a dream. “So what made you ask me out now instead of when I told you I liked you about a year ago?”

He choked on his sandwich and his eyes got big, “What?!”

“I asked you why you decided to ask me…” he cut me off.

“I know what you said I just was surprised that you asked that.”

“Well why?”

“I don’t know.”

“That’s it. Austin I have seen to many movies to know that something is up, that you were dared to do this of something. Are you playing a joke on me?”

He started coughing again. “No I would never play a joke on you.”

“Well I know you like laugh at my pain, because you laughed in my face when I gave you my heart.”

“I’m sorry (Y/N).”

“Do you like me?” I asked. He probably knew what was about to happen but I have to do this.

“Yes, I do. I like you very much.” He said. I stood up and started laughing in his face.

“Now I hope you know how I felt.” I turned around and walked down the hill to my car, glad that we met here.
