January 2060To temporarily leave, is still to leave.

The best part of Jimin's day was coming home. He longed for when he would finally be home in Jungkook's arms. But today, he knew that it would not feel the same, would not be enough. He knew that he will still long for home as he reaches it. Because, it would be the last day that ends with coming home for a while.
As Jimin opened the front door, his breath hitched. The crystal resembling fairy lights shone bright in the winter evening─the hallway reminding him of the masquerade hall. The main difference was simply the snow white rose petals that trailed along the ashy wooden floor of the hallway.
His snowy shoes were discarded messily by the door, as if done by a small child. His long winter coat hung over a chair instead of inside the closet, and his bags were on the floor. He left it like that, in a rush to reach home.
The soft sound of the music became louder as he followed the petals towards the living room. He knew that he would find an old vinyl spinning under the needle of the gramophone there, and that he would find Jungkook there.
The trail of petals ended by the entrance to the living room, where he looked up to see him. He stood by the gramophone, looking at vinyls, as their eyes met. The smile that graced his lips made Jimin's heart flutter, and he wanted nothing but to cross the distance between them.
"You're home early," Jungkook said, placing down the vinyl case and turning around just in time when Jimin hurried towards him. He let out a huff when Jimin made a small leap into his arms, and he had to support his weight.
"I hurried through the lecture," he mumbled into his neck, and Jungkook chuckled.
"Did they even have enough time to take notes?"
Jimin leaned away to look at him, and Jungkook hoisted him up slightly to get a better hold on his thighs. He saw the room then─really saw it. A gasp left his lips, as his eyes landed on a box wrapped up in white paper, covered in stickers and decorated with a silver bow on top.
"Jungkook," he said softly, and Jungkook hummed as he spun around slightly to see what Jimin looked at. "What is that pretty box?"
"I just wanted to give you something, so you don't forget all about me when you leave." It sounded wrong to Jimin─because, how could he forget him?─but he said nothing of it. That had been a worry of his own, so he understood. So, he simply placed a kiss on his cheek, and one on his nose. Jungkook would appreciate that more than an argument.
"Want some hot chocolate?" The question made Jimin giggle as he nodded. Jungkook was a sucker for hot chocolate, and it was simply endearing. He tried to slide down to the ground, but Jungkook held on to him and walked over to the sofa. Without warning, he was dropped on the chaise of the sofa, and he yelped in surprise as he felt his stomach drop.
"Warn me next time," he pouted, playfully kicking his feet after Jungkook, who chuckled. It warmed his heart to think that this was what their relationship had become in only a few short weeks. They could have the world weighing down on their young shoulders one moment, and they solved their problems like adults together. The next moment, they could act like children─as if they had all the time in the world to do stupid things.
Right now was one of those moments, and Jimin saw it coming as Jungkook grabbed a hold of his ankles to pull him closer. He was prepared when Jungkook asked him with a sweet voice, "What was that?"
