Sans could still remember the old days. The days when he and his true love could be together with no fear of being separated. The old days where he could share stolen moments with his true love, together, enjoying just the peace and presence of each other. The days where—
"SANS!" A loud voice interrupted Sans from his blissful thoughts and he jerked around to see the owner of the voice.
"yeah, bro?" Sans responded to the coolest brother in the world, Papyrus.
"YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ON WATCH RIGHT NOW! NOT LAZING AROUND WITH YOUR MIND OFF IN WHO-KNOWS-WHERE!"
"sorry bro," Sans replied.
"IF YOU'RE SO SORRY THEN HURRY UP AND GET TO IT!"
Sans noticed that Papyrus seemed more agitated than usual. "hey pap? something going on? you can always tell me about it."
"THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS JUST FEELING A LITTLE BIT STRANGE TODAY. I THINK I MAY BE COMING DOWN WITH SOMETHING."
"aww, bro. that's aight. just get some rest, okay? it's going tibia okay... i'll handle everything else, pap."
"THANK YOU, BROTHER. I KNEW I COULD DEPEND ON YOU!" Papyrus sneezed and then seemed to realize something. "WAIT... WAS THAT A PUN? SAAANS!"
"heh, whoops, guess it just slipped out of me. just go and get some rest."
Papyrus muttered something unintelligible under his breath, let out another sneeze, and walked towards their home. Sans finally relaxed and leaned back in his chair, propping his feet up on the sentry station table.
With Papyrus gone for the rest of the day, Sans basically had the whole day to himself without Papyrus checking up on him every ten minutes. "now... where was i?" Sans muttered under his breath.
A flash of red, a glimpse of rosy cheeks darted across Sans' mind as if to remind him. Suddenly, Sans could see his true love again, albeit, a little more blurry than usual. Sans frowned—well, not physically, but mentally—and realized that this much time away from his love meant that his memories of her would get worse and worse. He was slowly forgetting his one and only love.
San was sad. He was extremely sad. These memories of his true love were one of the only things that helped him get through each day, and now he was slowly forgetting her. He could still remember the fateful day he had lost her.

"Sans, I love you more than anything else in the world!" Ketchup exclaimed, cuddling closer to Sans. Ketchup and Sans sat together on a small hill in Snowdin, looking at the fake stars together. Really, they were mostly enjoying each other's company.
"and i love you too, ketchup," Sans grinned back at her. "you're an amazing girlfriend, but i'm not satisfied."
"You... You aren't?" Ketchup replied, beginning to tear up. "Sans... Sa-Sans, I can't bear to be without you! Please... Please don't break up with me!"
Sans closed his eyes. "Sorry, Ketchup. I just can't be your boyfriend anymore." He slowly stood up.
This time Ketchup burst into real tears. The tears stung her eyes and traveled down her plastic body until it merged with the snow covering the ground. "Sans... S-Sans... Please... Please don't... Please don't do this... Please... No..." Amongst all her tears, Ketchup failed to notice when Sans got down on one leg and pulled a small box out.
"ketchup... ketchup... please listen to me, baby," Sans murmured in Ketchup's ear. He kissed her tears away and Ketchup flinched. She slowly looked up at Sans. "will you be be my wife instead of my girlfriend, ketchup?" Sans asked, starting to cry a bit at the fact that he had made his precious Ketchup cry, and at the same time, holding the ring box out.
Instead of responding, Ketchup just burst into more tears.
"oh no... oh no... ketchup, baby, i'm sorry... was... was that too soon? oh no, ketchup, my darling, please don't cry..." Sans fretted, tearing up even more.
Ketchup looked up at Sans with tears in her eyes. "Sans... I relish you and would love to be with you forever!"
Sans tried to wipe his tears away, but eventually gave up and elected to kiss Ketchup instead. Their tears mingled, and their bodies became one as they pressed together in their Undyneing affection for each other. Finally, they separated, and both cried, not tears of sorrow, but of happiness. Little did the couple know that they would soon be crying even more that day, but those tears would not be of joy this time.

Sans sighed happily at the memory, recalling the plastic-and-salt taste of Ketchup. He remembered the way she felt against him when he held her tight in an effort to never let go and for her to be a part of him forever. He thought of the joyful, ecstatic feelings spreading through his bones like wildfire, he thought of the sweet, sweet taste of Ketchup and her sweet, sweet personality.
Then Sans sighed. He would never experience any of that again.

They flicked on the TV, which was already set to Mettaton's evening show. Strangely, Papyrus was not at his shared house with Sans, so Sans and Ketchup had a rare moment alone in Sans' and Papyrus' house. They could do anything~
So they elected to watch Mettaton's show, obviously.
Mettaton started the show by slamming his robotic hand on the desk. Sans' eyes trailed down to Mettaton's legs—which are, by the way, so hot one can fry an egg on them. Ketchup gently smacked Sans' shoulder and Sans chuckled, putting an arm around Ketchup. "don't worry, my dear."
Mettaton exclaimed: "BREAKING NEWS~! Our good king, Asgore, has passed a new law, darlings! This morning, he was eating fries from McDona—OW!" An unknown force struck Mettaton from behind and prevented him from completing the word. "FINE. He was eating fries from McUnder's and he decided to add some ketchup. However, this said ketchup bottle was reluctant to give it's sweet juices up to our King! Darlings, can you imagine the horror?" Ketchup giggled at this point, making Sans smile at her cute laugh. "Anyways, darlings, here's the juicy part! The ketchup bottle then had the audacity to spew it's juices all over Asgore! Of course King Asgore was furious, so he decided to ban all ketchup from the underground! What a silly law, am I right, darlings? Anyways, more to come after the break!"
Mettaton's gorgeous face was then replaced by commercials. Sans paused the TV and turned to Ketchup. "i'm sure it's a mistake, sweetie," he finally spoke after what seemed of hours of silence. "our luck can't really be this bad?" Sans managed a weak chuckle, but it quickly died out when he saw the expression on Ketchup's face. "k-ketchup?"
"I'd... I'd better go pack my bags." Ketchup gave Sans one last heart-wrenching kiss and then ran out. That was the last Sans ever saw of her.
