Chapter 1

As Virgil put on the purple and black tux Keith had bought him, he sighed. He was going to prom with a boy he hated. "Virgil?" Came Roman's voice from outside the door "yeah?" Virgil asked, opening his door. "Are you going to prom? I know you've never been much of a dancing guy he said, with a soft smile "I am. I'm going with Keith." Virgil mumbled, "Huh, I thought you two broke up..." Roman said, one eyebrow raised. "We did. But, we ended up back together" "oh. Um...have fun." "Thanks."

"Babe!" Keith yelled from downstairs "I'm coming." Virgil growled as he walked down the stairs. "Patton left to go get Chinese. So, You Two boys stay safe, got it?" Logan said. Virgil nodded, as Keith squeezed his hand, making him wince. Logan raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything "Be home by ten." The two nodded and left, Virgil pulled his hand away from Keith and rolled his eyes as he got in the passenger side of Keith's car "Baby, I said I'm sorry. What more do you want from me?" Keith asked as he pulled out of Virgil's driveway. Virgil didn't say anything "Really? The silent treatment? C'mon, Baby, you know I love you." "Shut up. And don't call me 'Baby'" Virgil said, looking out the car window. Keith growled as he slammed on the breaks, making Virgil go forward and the seatbelt cut his shoulder "OW!" He yelled, "WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?!" Keith glared at Virgil "you deserved it." He said as he drove to their school. Virgil tried to keep away from Keith when he could "Hey, Baby" Keith said, leaning over Virgil. Virgil's face went a bit red as he stood up all the way "Really? What do you want?" Virgil said, rolling his eyes. "I wanna be with you. You're my date, after all." As Keith said this, a boy walked by and kissed him on the cheek "Hey, Babe." The boy said, he then left. Virgil glared at Keith "wait, Baby. Before you get mad, I can explain." Keith said, holding Virgil's arm so he couldn't storm off "I'm waiting" Virgil said in an annoyed tone "well...um...It was when we took a break. And, well...Yeah, I got nothing." Keith said "You're nothing more than a lying, cheating scumbag. Let go of my arm." Virgil growled, Keith let go and Virgil stormed off. As he was about to reach the bathroom, he heard a familiar voice call his name. "Roman? What are you doing here? I thought you weren't coming." Virgil said "I wasn't. But, something seemed off. You didn't seem happy about going to prom with Keith." Roman said, "h-he cheated on you?" Virgil sighed "Yes. Also, it's none of your business. You're spying on me." "Virge, I'm sorry. But, I just wanted to make sure that you're okay. Do you want me to take you home?" Roman asked. "Yes. But, just, don't let Keith see." Virgil said, "why?" Roman asked, "What's he gonna do?" Virgil gulped "Just, get me out of here." He said, looking down. Before Roman could respond, Keith came over "who's this?" he asked, "Um...this is Roman." Virgil said, stepping back a little. Roman noticed the habits, the nervous swaying, the stepping back, the fidgeting with his own fingers. Roman knew that Virgil only acts this way when he's around someone who hurt him. he went into full protection mode "Get lost, Keith." he snarled "Roman, wha-" "don't worry about it, Virge. I said, Get lost, Keith." he stepped closer to Keith. "You're weird. Let's go, Baby" Keith said, grabbing Virgil's arm. "No!" Virgil said, snatching his arm away "Baby, I said let's. go." Keith said, his teeth clenched "And I said, No." Virgil snapped back. Keith growled as he pinned Virgil against the wall "Hey! He said no, He meant no!" Roman said as he pulled Keith back. "c'mon, Virge." Virgil nodded as he walked with Roman "What else has he done to you?" Roman asked as they got in the car "what do you mean?" Virgil asked "I'm not stupid, Virgil. You only act like that around people who hurt you. Like and Tony." "Don't bring those two up. and, He always pins me on the wall, punches me, slaps me, slams on the breaks when we're driving" "Virgil...That's not okay...You have to leave him" "no...I can't" Virgil muttered "Yes, you can. you have too. The relationship you're isn't okay!" Roman said "Roman, I'm being for real. I can't leave him. I've tried. Stay out of my business." Virgil growled "VIRGIL. YOU NEED TO BREAK UP WITH HIM!" Roman snapped. Virgil froze and so did Roman, he pulled over and hugged Virgil who was now in tears "I'm sorry. I-I Didn't mean to yell at you..."
