Chapter 3

"VIRGIL!!!!!"

The three boys ran in the direction of the ear piercing, blood-curdling, shriek. Roman dropped beside Virgil the second he got there, Logan and Patton close behind him. Patton stared in horror. Roman's heart shattered, upon seeing Virgil with bruises and cuts all over his face, neck arms, legs, and hands. And that, that was only what they could see. Logan quickly called 911. After getting off the phone with the operator, he turned to Virgil. He checked the unconscious boy's pulse and sighed in relief. "He's just unconscious," Logan muttered. Roman sighed, "Do...Do you think Keith did this?" He asked "Roman...there was a time when Keith really did love, Virgil. But, then, Keith started seeing other guys. It broke Virgil's heart..." Logan began "He told Keith that he was leaving him, but, Keith retaliated and threw him against the wall. He told me that he and Keith weren't together since then, until up to two months ago when they told all of us they were back together. I guess they just went on and off since then." He finished as sighed. Patton tapped him on the shoulder, when Logan looked over at Patton he gestured to Virgil who was now awake and was looking at Logan with a face of disbelief. Logan gulped, the obvious pain on Virgil's face made the pang of guilt Logan felt 10 times worse. Virgil had trusted Logan with that story for almost a year. "Oh, Virgil. Y-you're awake." He said, scooting closer "How much did you hear?" "I barely heard anything because my hearing keeps coming and going, but, I know what you said." Virgil said, groaning at the pain all over his body "I'm sorry, Virgil." Logan said "It's fine-OW! SON OF A-" Virgil yelled as his foot slipped from under him and made him fall. "Are you alright, Kiddo?!" Patton asked, scrambling over to Virgil. Roman sighed, his brain was still trying to process this whole situation. "What's more important...Virgil, did Keith do this?" Logan asked. "Who else would want me dead?" Virgil said in response. That's when the ambulance pulled up.

                 ~at the hospital~

Virgil groaned at every small movement. Most of his body was wrapped in bandages. He opened his eyes and was blinded by the bright lights of the hospital room. After his eyes adjusted he saw someone familiar, someone, he hadn't seen...in 7 months. Tony? Why is he here? How does he even know where I am? Virgil thought as he sat up with a wince. "Hey, Kitty," Tony said, in an evil, teasing manner. "W-why are you here?" Virgil asked, trying to control his breathing. "How could I not be. You're a star now, Kitty." Tony said, showing him the newspaper where the headline was "Teenage boy, Virgil Black, beat and left for dead in Alleyway Recovering in the hospital"(just go with the last name) Virgil gulped, Keith would see this. There was no way to avoid him seeing it. "So." Tony began "What have you been up to?"He asked with a smirk "fighting to not die in a relationship. Oh, wait, you know that because it happened between us as well!" Virgil growled "no need to raise your voice. That was 7 months ago. C'mon, I've changed. We can start over" Tony said, with a sinister smirk. "Tony, get out of here," Virgil said, looking down.  "Aw. You're still the sassy, bossy kitty." Tony chuckled "but, I'm staying"Virgil growled. Tony lifted up Virgil's bangs and smirked "There's no way you can forget me. Not with that scar, I left" he said. Virgil pushed the button on the remote beside his bed. Moments later a nurse came in "You buzzed?" She asked kindly "yes. Could you get him out of here?" Virgil replied, pointing to Tony.  The nurse nodded as she leads Tony out "HEY! Don't touch me!" Tony yelled. "I'm serious! I'll hurt you!" he called from down the hall. "um...may I ask...Was that Anthony Micheal Vento Jr.?" Roman said, stepping around the corner. Virgil smiled a little upon seeing Roman, but, frowned at Tony's name "yes, it was." he said with a sigh "what the heck was he doing here?" he asked, sitting in the chair beside Virgil's hospital bed and trying not to look at how many bandages Virgil had. "I don't know," he muttered. "oh. um...Patton and Logan will be here soon. Since Logan is 18, he can check you out of this place when you're allowed to leave." Roman said. "Patton is also 18" Virgil added, "Patton will hug you so tight that you'll be back in the hospital." Roman chuckled. Virgil smiled a little. he pushed his bangs down, realizing they were still up after Tony had moved them. Logan and Patton came around the corner, Patton running up to Virgil and having to calm down before hugging him so he didn't hug too tight. "are you okay, Kiddo?" Patton asked "no. I just want out of here," Virgil muttered in response. "speak of the Devil, the doctor said you can come home."
