Gun shots rung throughout the air. Screams of women and their babies being slaughtered could be heard down stairs. The Dark skin woman rushed the up the stairs with her child in tow. Opening the latch on the ceiling that lead up to the attic she grabbed the nearest chair and stood in it with her child in her arms. Beautiful brown eyes stared into her blue eyes with such warmth.
"Pikin (small child), your mother loves you very much. Never grow up to be like me, never ever be like me. I always remember 'never forget where you came from'." She took the phoenix necklace from around her neck and put it around the child's neck. The child nodded her head, the woman quickly hoisted the child into the attic and gave her a longing look, tears streaming down her face. She closed the latch and turned around to meet her fate. Foot steps could be heard coming up the stairs. The woman stared at her murderer with hatred. The man took off his mask,"You knew this was coming, you caused this on yourself " he said.
A shot rang throughout the air, the child in corner of the attic muffled a cry. She knew her mother was gone and was never coming back. The sound of police sirens could be heard in the distance, hurried footsteps rushed down stairs. The child quietly opened the latch and found her mother's eyes staring back at her from the ground. Her body surrounded by a sea of blood, draining from the gun wound in the middle of her head. The child silently weeped.
Cataliya shot up out of her bed, soaked in sweat, it had been years since she had that dream. Leaning against the bed head she took deep breaths. It took her years to overcome that dream and now it has come back to haunt her. Why now? Looking to the clock on the wall, the time was 6:00am. She had to get going to work or else she would be late. She knew all too well the complaints she would get ftom her boss for being late.
