SHAE'S POV
"Bye mum!" I shout as a gently shut the front door behind me.
"Bye sweetie," she replies.
I place my skateboard on the pavement and ride to Maisie's house. I got a text from Mackenzie last night notifying me that I should come round for the day because her and their mother were going out.
A few short minutes later I'm knocking on the dark oak front door. Mackenzie greets me at the door and tells me that Maisie is in her room.
"Just text me if she starts, well you know," Mackenzie says.
"If she starts what?" I question. I'm seriously confused now.
"Last night I found her cutting herself in her bathroom," Mackenzie whispers.
I feel my jaw drop as I stare at her with a 'what the actual hell' look plastered on my face.
"Oh, you didn't know?" She asks me.
"I knew she had depression but not that it had gone this far," I reply.
"Everyone knew about her depression. Please don't tell her I told you and if you can, could you try to get rid of anything she could use?" She asks. She's worried about her sister, I'm worried about her, we're all worried about her. But no one knows exactly how to show it.
I go up the flight of stairs and to Maisie's bedroom. I turn the knob and push, but it stays shut.
"Mae, open up!" I say, my voice raised slightly.
I'm left in a deadly silence.
"Kenzie!" I yell.
"Yeah?" She replies, her voice getting louder as she nears the top of the staircase.
"It's locked," I shrug.
"Oh for gods sake Maisie open up!" Mackenzie yells, her fist pounding on the door.
"No! Fuck off would you!" Maisie yells back.
"Please Mae," I plead.
"Shae can come in but Kenzie just fuck off," She says, letting out a sigh.
The door unlocks and opens before revealing a broken girl.
She drags me inside and violently slams the door shut. Before running to hide herself and her scars under the covers. I attempt to pull the covers away but she doesn't let me.
"You don't want to see me like this," she cries. Her voice is broken and cut off a few times to gasp for air.
"I want to help you Mae, please just come out from under there so I can," I plead, my voice full of desperation.
"I don't want help. I want Madalyn," she sobs.
Damn her disappearance really has taken a toll on this poor girl.
"Well she's gone and there's nothing you can really do about it but stay positive," I say.
"How am I gonna stay positive when for all I know my sister is DEAD!" she yells.
Oh shit I've made her angry. I get up off the bed and just leave her in the room.
"You know what don't come crying saying I didn't try because I did, but you refused my help!" I yell as I slam her door shut and pace up and down the hallway.
I'm halfway through the next level of my game when I hear music. More specifically, Maisie singing to the backing track.
"It's not fair
I'm talking to you upstairs
Are you there?
You know I care
So please don't tell me that this is an empty prayer
Oh no," she sings. I stand silently by her door as she continues to sing the song that I soon recognise as 'I Miss Her' by Jessie J."'Cause all she has and all she's lost
I wish she could remember
I watch her fade and slip away
It's hurting more than everI miss her even though she's still here
You need to listen
Don't let her disappear
I'll give her my forever
If it meant for a day she could really be okay
'Cause I miss her
Even though she's still hereIs this pretend?
Will she really not know my face?
In the end
If you're a friend a friend a friend
Show me how to heal it when she can't even feel it
Please... show me'Cause all she has and all she's lost
I wish she could remember
I watch her fade and slip away
It's hurting more than everI miss her even though she's still here
You need to listen
Don't let her disappear
I'll give her my forever
If it meant for a day she could really be okay
'Cause I miss herAnd promise me this
When she goes
Everything she sees will set her free
Thirteen and the color green
Promise me this
That she knows
That the people that she loves
Will love her in the skies aboveI miss her even though she's still here
You need to listen
So don't let her disappear
I'll give her my forever forever forever
If it meant for a day she could really be okay
'Cause I miss her
Even though she's still hereShe's still here oh
I miss her, miss her, miss her
I just miss her, miss her, miss her
I miss her even though she's still here," she finishes beautifully. I hold back my own tears and quietly applaud her.The door creaks slightly so I take it as my cue to look like I'm busy playing a game.
"Please tell me you didn't hear that," Maisie whispers.
"I did, and it was beautiful. You sang it with so much raw emotion, I nearly cried myself," I reply.
"If it was my song, I'd be dedicating it to Madalyn right now. But because it isn't, I'll dedicate that performance to her instead," she says quietly, as a stray tear rolls down her cheek.
More tears start to roll down her face as a pull her into a hug. She lets out a whimper of pain as I hug her tighter, so I loosen my grasp on her. She falls silent for a short while before she lets out multiple gasps for air. I try to do loud, but steady breaths to try and get her breathing back on track. She starts to breathe properly again and pulls herself away to stand on her own. Her body has other plans clearly, as her eyes begin to flicker shut and she collapses into me.
I hold her limp body in my arms as I carry her into her room to lay her down. In that time the colour in her face started to get lighter and paler than her usual. I gently place her on the bed before panicking and calling an ambulance.
A/N: I don't know anything about people fainting so if the information is incorrect don't get mad please. I just wrote what I thought may happen.
This might also be the only update for awhile, I have a lot on my plate at the moment so writing isn't at the top if my priorities right now. The story will be put on hold until further notice.Keep being amazing lovelies xx
