The mysterious disappearance

Makoa sit thoughtfully in his police car that running , the sun has fully set but Honolulu's life still rising , packed with tourists and fellow Hawaiian walking around to enjoy the night air of the city . No matter how late there , the city was always waking , vacation was indeed never recognized a time to stop.

Just earlier , he got a phone call from the station , informed him regarding the suspicious lost of the evidence he found in Waikiki, the mysterious disappearance of a weird blue scale. Or as Portman's lamely said , the mermaid's scale. It didn't amuse him actually hearing it from the scientist , he thought it was ridiculous but hearing the fact that it might be gone and there's a possibility that someone stole it. He started to believe that it wasn't just a blue scale.

If Portman's theory was right , then there's a chance that someone stole it in order to get a profit. But what kind of person was that ? Stealing a blue scale that still been unable to detect was it really a mermaid's scale or not. The person must be a fanatic to that kind of thing. So who they are ? The news about their founding hasn't been able to reach the local news reporter . There's a chance , someone who stole it was within the station , hearing all of his conversation this whole time . It depends on Makoa now to find that person , hopefully they still within the station.

His thought now divided into the found of the blue scale near his daughter's hut. The range from Waikiki to the hut , wasn't that far. The biggest question is , how it could end up in Waikiki and the hut ? . Was there a possibility that it was connected , coming from the same source and Does Kaia , knew about this all along ? Judging that the second scale was found near. Or maybe Kaia didn't know anything really , maybe someone dropped it there. But still, Who ?

His mind now goes to the red haired girl Kaia brought , the cousin of her coworker's Jane. The girl , he remembered was named Eirene , she was very distinctive. He has a very broad knowledge regarding people , her accent he believed wasn't came from Texas , nor came from Ireland since most of red headed was came from there. Maybe Greek ? Unlikely too. Then where she came from ?

Was Kaia intentionally lied about her new friend to him ? And for what purpose ?. His daughter never would dare to hide the truth from him. She was a very nice and honest girl , if Kaia really do hiding something. It could be something very big and important. Not that he got suspicious that it was his daughter who stole the scale, he knew she didn't even know about his found in Waikiki.

Makoa sighed , blowing out some smoke from his cigar. The sequence was still random. There is no visible string he could arranged back to solve this case. He got out from the car , walking in fast to the laboratory. There Portman and Harrison already waiting for him ,outside the laboratory entrance.

"I was there ! Doing my research for the scale ! But when I looked to the place where I put it , the scale was gone chief !".Portman informed , his body was shaking. His job was very much in stake , Chief will be so mad for his negligence.

Makoa scooted over the fat scientist , entering the lab immediately. He approached the shelf , where previously the scale was stored. He opened it , and soon enough he convinced the scale was really gone. "Wow , where that scale could be end up ?". Harrison asked beside him , quite surprised that someone has a fancy to that weird scale.

"Whomever it is..".Makoa closed it violently , making the loud sound for the other guys to jerked."He knew about the existence of that scale and it could be have something more we couldn't even  imagine."

"So there's a chance ..it was really a mermaid's scale ?".Portman asked getting a chuckle from Harrison.

"Please , don't be ridiculous . You still stick to that theory ?". Portman gave him a glare.
