Chapter 7

Ok. I'm not going to lie. I did try to find Steve. But I couldn't see him anywhere. I checked the bridge, where I saw him last, but nothing. I checked every conference room on the damn carrier. Every personal room. The gym. The shooting range. Fury's office. My office. Maria's office. Clint's office. Natasha's office. Phil's office. Nothing. He's vanished. In the end, I was tired so I turned my ear piece on.

"Natasha, have you seen the Captain?" I asked and waited for her reply.

"No but I figured out Loki's plan and we need to get everyone in the lab." She sounded rushed and out of breath. Without a second thought, I teleported back into the lab to find most people there. Tony and Bruce, of course, Fury, Thor, Maria, Phil and Steve also. I arrived at about the same time as Nat came rushing in.

"What is phase two?" Tony asked, sat up on the bench with a small, hand held screen in front of him, along with a bigger one on an attachment.

Steve slammed a large gun, with a barrel longer and chunkier than most, on the table opposite them. "Phase two is where SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons. Sorry, computer was moving a little slow for me." Wait he knew about Jarvis hacking SHIELD? Wait where have you been old man? I was looking all over for you!

"Rogers, we gathered everything related to the tesseract, this does not mean-" Fury was cut of by Tony.

"I'm sorry Nick." He turns the screen round for us too see. It shows a missile assembling and dissembling its parts, it also shows its damage rate and death tole. "What, were you lying?"

"I was wrong director, the world hasn't changed a bit." Steve backed Tony up.

"Did you know about this?" Bruce questions me. I open my mouth but cannot find any words, Natasha saves me.

"Do you wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, doctor?" She took a firm stance in front of the director.

Bruce chuckled, but it's cold and unwelcoming. "I was in Calcutta, I was pretty well removed."

"Loki is manipulating you." She strode towards him as we watched her confidence waver.

"And you've been doing what exactly."

"You didn't come here because I bat my eye lashes at you."

"Yes and I'm not leaving just because suddenly you get a little twitchy." He pulls the screen round and directs his next words at Nick, using a pen to point and gesticulate. "I'd like to know why SHEILD is using the tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."

There was a long pause and the tension in the room increased by about four notches. "Because of him." Director Fury stated, pointing a finger at a confused Thor.

"Me?" Thor asked.

"Last year earth had a visitor form another planet who had a grudge match that levelled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone, but we are hopelessly-hilariously outgunned." Nick explains his point further.

Thor defends himself. "My people want nothing but piece with your planet."

"But your not the only people out there, are you?" I inputted.

"And your not the only threat. The worlds filling up with people who can't be matched. They can't be controlled." Nick develops off of my point.

"Like you controlled the cube?" Steve interjects.

"Your work with the tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that earth is ready for a higher form of war." Thor boomed.
