Chapter 14

When I woke up I was in a hospital room. I looked around, but nobody was in the room. I got out of the bed and walked into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and I had bruises all over my face and neck. Then I looked down at my body and there were bruises all over my body. I walked out of the bathroom and went back on the bed. I waited for a while then a nurse walked in and yelled

"She's awake!"

A few more nurses rushed in to see if I really was awake. Then my friends rushed in too. Toddy, Scott, David, Zane, and Heath. Toddy ran over to me and hugged me. The nurses kicked everyone out except Toddy. They did a few test to see how I was doing, but once they were done they left the room. That's when I asked Toddy

"What happened?"

"What do you remember?"

"I went to Jake's house to talk to him and then when I was leaving Colby was against my car and trying to get me to stay in his room. Then I called you. That's all I remember."

"Colby hit you until you knocked out and then he 'touched' you." Toddy said

"What does that mean?"

"He raped you while you were unconscious."

I started crying. I had just gotten away from my dad and now someone I was friends with did it to me.

"Don't worry though. The police got him. He will be locked away for a long time." Toddy said

"How did it happen. I remember screaming for help. Why didn't anyone help me?" I said

"They didn't hear you. I found him on top of you when I got there."

"How long have I been out?"

"About 2 days. He hit you really hard."

"When can we go home?"

"When the doctor comes back he'll tell us."

"Okay."

"Do you want anyone in the room with you besides me?"

"Uh- sure."

"Okay. I'll tell them. Do you want any food?"

"No i'm good."

"You sure?"

"Yea. If I change my mind I will just have some brought to my room from the cafeteria."

"Okay. I'll be back."

Toddy walked out of the room and went down the hall. When he came back he had everyone with him. Scott, David, Zane, and Heath. They all sat down in the chairs around the room. They just sat in silence until the doctor came in.

"Romey. How are you feeling?" 

"I don't feel horrible."

"I assume your friend told you what happened."

"Yea."

"Okay well you can go home in two days. We need to get the results of the tests back to make sure there is no internal damage."

"Okay."

"I will check up on you in a few hours." The doctor said then walked out of the room.

Then it was silence in the room. No one was saying anything. I got up and pulled the I.V. machine that was now in my arm with me. Everyone was watching me. I walked into the hallway and started walking around. Toddy followed me and said

"Where are you going?"

"Just walking around. Everyone staring at me and not talking was making me nervous." I said
