The brown foal turned around. "Yes?"
"Where is your mother?" Blackboots asked. "We can help you find her."
"Oh, I don't have one," she replied. "Just me."
Oh no, thought Blackboots. Now it really is a déjà vu. "Well, while we figure things out, why don't you stay here for the night?"
The foal's eyes lt up. "Really?!"
"Sure," replied Blackboots. She hesitated. "Wait."
The foal turned her head. "Yes?"
"What is your name?" Blackboots asked her.
"Um," she mumbled. "I-I don't have one."
"Okay," Blackboots said. She was thinking. "Hey gang, what do you think?"
"How about Rainbow Buttercup Sprinkles?" Sandie asked excitedly.
"Well, I was thinking more along the line of Leva, Icelandic Princess Warrior." said Jason.
Andrieus was staring at the ground. Suddenly, he snapped his head up. "Ren," he continued. "Yes, Ren suits her perfectly." Everyone agreed. "Well, that is, only if YOU like it." HE said to the foal.
"Oh, I think..." she smiled. "It's perfect."
"Ren it is!" exclaimed Jason. They all cheered.
The newly named Ren yawned. "Well, I think I'm just gonna go to bed..."
"WAIT!" Sandie shouted.
"Sandie, you startled her!" Andrieus yelled.
"SSSHHHHH!" Everyone, just calm down!! Okay?!" Jason exclaimed.
"Sorry, Ren," Sandie apologized.
"It's okay," Ren replied.
"I know! To help Ren fall asleep why don't you continue telling us about Sky, Mother?" Sandie exclaimed.
Blackboots smiled. "I think that's a great idea."
They got Ren caught up with the story. "Now where was I?" pondered Blackboots.
"Déjà vu?" Andrieus reminded her.
"Right!" she said. "Okay, let's see..."
The white horse turned around. "Yes?" He asked.
"Is this your home?" Sky questioned.
"Oh, no," he replied. "I was just looking for a place to stay tonight I was checking if it was empty." He smiled weakly, then began to walk away.
Yikes.
What had she done?! This poor child was all alone and she made him feel bad. She glanced over at Stardust. She was staring into space. It was now or never.
"Wait."
He turned around. "Yes?'
"How would you like to stay here for the night?" She asked him.
"Really?"
"Sure."
"Yes! Oh, THANK YOU!'" His eyes twinkled.
Sky smiled. "You might as well, right?"
Stardust looked concerned. "Wait."
"Yes?" The white horse replied.
"What is your name?" she questioned.
He smiled. "My name is Jake."
"Jake," she gasped softly. "I mean, uh, okay," Stardust yawned. "I'm going to sleep, Mother."
"Okay, goodnight." Sky replied.
"Shall I tell you a bit about myself?" Jake whispered.
"Oh, no, you really don't have to," Sky answered.
"No," he smiled. "I'd like to,"
"Well okay, if you really want to," Sky smiled back.
"Well, let's see... my family, every member, was killed," He started. "By a human."
"Ah, those darn humans," Sky grunted. "I would never belong to one of those terrible creatures!"
"Glad you agree," Jake nodded. "Anyway, I managed to escape. And I've been wondering around ever since." He turned his head to reveal a scar. Sky gasped softly. "Although, just because I escaped, that doesn't mean I wasn't injured."
"Are you okay?!' Sky exclaimed.
"Oh, yes, it's healed by now," Jake replied. "I'm just trying to get along."
Stardust could hear her mother and Jake whispering. She told Sky she'd be asleep, but the whispers were too loud. Besides, she remembered a Jake from the past, the one who killed Starlight. Her sister.
Though she was almost certain it wasn't the same Jake, you can never be too sure. They just talk about Jake's past.
Boring.
They talked about how terrible the humans were. Huh. They think humans are so bad? I've dealt with creatures so much worse than lousy old humans.. Some of them weren't even mortal. Listening to the sound of their boring conversation, she drifted of to sleep.
