"witches brew"

Wizards and witches came in all sorts of different shapes and sizes all across the world. Yet some, in particular, stood out from the regular body of magical humans. These special few had something different about them, an added ability onto their usual ones often times relating to their bloodlines.

For example, the Darnell family who originates from Northern Ireland often times had seers born into their lines, special witches and wizards who had the ability to see into the future. Other 'odd' abilities were things such as being metamorphmagus who can change their appearance at will, or being able to speak to animals. Some odd traits could be taught and adapted by whichever witch or wizard acquired them, but a rare few were gisted with the ability without the lessons such as legilimens, and becoming an animagus.

These unique attributes, however, were never disclosed to a single person or family, they could show up in a witch or wizard at any time or of course, they could be taught. The single family that had an attribute unlike the rest that only graced their bloodline was the Lennox family.

The Lennox family was unlike any other pureblooded wizarding family who's tree dated back centuries. They were all different than one another as their entire line had been placed into different Hogwarts houses over the years, different hair colored their heads and different beliefs and morals pushed them on. But there was something that connected them all, besides their surname of course.

Each person who was graced with Lennox blood throughout their veins was granted a familiar some time in their life. A lifelong aid and guide bonded between souls when the Lennox wizard needed them most.
This was no different for Lyra Lennox who's familiar Perry appeared only moments after her mothers death. Being the last of her name Lyra was not unused to being alone, she had no true blooded family though her godfather was everything she could ask for in a parent.

Unfortunately, it wasn't as if she could bring her godfather to Hogwarts with her, luckily, however, she could bring Perry.
Lyra stuck to herself and Perry for most of her life, that is until her godfather brought her along to a co-workers house for a dinner party where he'd hoped she'd make friends with his friends' daughter who was her age. Yet before she could find the girl she was supposed to a stray pair of twins ( also attending the party ) swept her and her familiar up claiming them as their own, and well for the first time in her life - Lyra didn't mind the company.
