butterfly man(begins)

yes, we’re all fascinated by superheroes, be it because of their special abilities,their intellectual
prowess, or plainly by the fact that their very existence brings wonder and hope to our lives, that one
day we may be capable of doing what they do, to have such an interesting life, one where you don’t
have to go to work everyday and sit an office all day looking at a screen, but to have something to look
forward to, be it beating up bad guys(and you know that’s fun), or just helping a grandma get her kitty
off a tree, all that plus the love and respect you gain from the citizens you protect(not to mention the
fans you get).
Well, this guy was no exception to the want of all the advantages super powers could bring because
quite frankly and presently speaking, this guy was a plain dude. When you hear the term “regular joe”,
this guy was an excellent example, he was even more regular than a regular joe. Like anyone, he was in
search of something extraordinary or exciting in his life, and for him, super powers would cut it. He goes
by the name- ode timmy (yup, only from his name you’d know there’s nothing going on with this
guy),but his friends call him O.D, a 17 year old almost done with high school, lives with his best friend
zor catch (more like a brother from another mother)in an apartment on 4th street in a city called
browdsville. You might ask, why would 2 high school students be living together?, whatever happened
to their parents?, well…….beats me!. I’m just the narrator, go ask the author. Well, my guess is it was a
bilateral agreement between them and their parents. Sides, every once in a while they get visits from
both parents so….yeah, its all good. Also you should note they have a female best friend called briana
goodwill. The three of them form a formidable trio, well if they were ever up to…anything(which they
hardly ever, infact, never are).
So, their story starts with a “regular” day in school, ode always wishing for something to happen, zor
always telling him to keep dreaming, Brianna always telling zor to stop crushing people’s dreams. On a
normal day( which is…everyday) , they walk to school talking about regular stuff like….the weather, the
news(yeah you can imagine how boring this conversation would be),but what they all find most
interesting is the super villains always rampaging in the city. the government has put in place high
facility officers and equipment for the dealing of these menacing figures but it isn’t very effective. “They
need some one just like them with natural abilities to stand up to them, then they’ll tone down” says
ode.” Yes, they do, but where do we find someone like that?, if he existed he would have shown himself
a long time ago” says zor. “what makes you think it has to be a “he”?” asks Brianna. And they go on
arguing about who would ever be able to stand up to these villains. After school they walk home, always
passing the streets where they know villains might be lurking with hopes of gaining some excitement,
but those attempts prove futile(it seems they always go at the wrong time). There was even one time
they sat in the most notorious street for hours waiting for something to happen, still yet, nothing. It was
after they left that a great rampage began and when they found out, they rushed back, only to meet the
dust left by the vehicle which the high facility officers used to contain the villains. (so yeah, its almostlike they’re destined not to have anything exciting). but on this particular day, they were on their way
home from school when they happened to meet a villain who just managed to sneak out of high facility
jail. He goes by the name ‘ESCAPE GOAT’, a name enthused by his hatred for the officer in charge at the
high facility jail who always mockingly used him as a “scape goat” for all his demonstrations ,because
he’s actually a goat that mutated and gained the mind of a mad scientist(yeah!...what are the odds?)
and learnt how to talk and walk like a human, practically a human in a goats body(or costume). And the
fact that he “escaped” from the prison further accentuates the meaning(obviously…). Finally, the three
friends had something to watch, they got to a safe distance and popped out their bags of popcorn,
awaiting the showdown between ESCAPE GOAT and the high facility officers. But unfortunately for them
“there is no safe distance from me!” bleated ESCAPE GOAT, and pointing his newly modified ray gun in
their direction, blasted at them. The radiation from the blast was strong enough to knock them out for 2
straight hours, which was enough time for the high facility officers to recapture and clean up the mess
made by ESCAPE GOAT. When they recovered, they woke up in the hospital and the doctors had already
run tests on them, telling them they were fine and should just go home and get rest. They obeyed the
instruction and did just so.
The next day, ode and zor had been having a weird day, seeing changes in their body and they had a call
from Brianna telling them the same thing. ode couldn’t hold a glass to drink water without breaking
it…and zor was feeling cold although ode said his body was really hot(temperature, not in a gay
manner). ode tried taking zor’s temperature with a thermometer but the thermometer couldn’t read it.
They knew something weird was going on and decided to meet the one person they believed was
weirdly wise enough to tell them what was going on, master lu', The karate teacher at their school. He
would have been an awesome karate teacher ……………….if he knew karate, or if he were Asian, and for
this reason nobody takes karate classes. people even question how he got a job at the school. some say
he exploited the gullibility of the principal as a result of his name change to lu', others say he came in
through’ the back door’(who knows?). but one thing was sure…he was knowledgeable when it comes to
“weird”.
When they got to his office, they saw him dancing clumsily to what appeared to be the sound of
moving cars coming from his window and that set the awkward mood into motion. They sat down on an
itchy mat and explained to him all their symptoms and even demonstrated to him. He then got up,
looked them in the eyes awkwardly for 25 seconds each ,locked his office door and went to the window,
drew the curtain and in a slowly rising tone said “well, I guess you have superpowers”.(as expected).
The trio, all confounded rose to their feet and asked Mr lu' to repeat what he said for fear they heard
wrong. And he told them clearly this time “you three have super powers” he said. they all looked at
each other with wide open eyes, with an innate feeling of joy(except ode, who had already started
shouting happily). ode who was too happy to contain himself, not knowing it, started running round the
office with super speed and couldn’t stop until master lu' stepped in and got a hold of him, with wider
eyes they looked at him, and he smiled. He explained himself to them revealing that he too had super
powers, but was much too old to take on any of the villains in the city and kept his identity secret by
playing the role of a weird karate teacher(perfect cover?). many questions ran through their minds as
they saw him demonstrate a few of his skills e.g teleportation, super-speed, super strength e.t.c. andthey asked what they were capable of, and he redirected the question to them. They had to figure out
what they were capable of. They realized it was the blast from ESCAPE GOAT’s ray gun that caused this
phenomenon, but instead of harming them it did them good(heck! It made their dreams come true, I
mean….. come on ,cut em some slack, their lives are boring, the least you could do Is let them have
superpowers…).”the settings on the ray gun must’ve been reversed somehow” ode reasoned . Master
lu' volunteered to be their personal master and train them to help them figure out their capabilities and
reach their full potential. But he reminded them “with great power comes great responsibility”, in a
joking tone he concluded ”NOT! Look at me, I have super powers but I don’t have great responsibilities”
he laughed. So they with that in mind they went home curious to find out as to what secret’s and
capabilities they now posses. Well, it didn’t take long for them to figure out a few of their powers, they
mostly had similar powers, they could all fly, zor could control fire(that explains his increase in
temperature) and shoot lasers from his eyes, Brianna’s voice was getting extraordinarily high pitched
meaning she could scream a whole building down, she could also control the wind, and ode ,quite the
most special, had super speed, could control a wide variety of elements and could teleport, so when he
turned on his super powers he was able to teleport a colorful(mostly green) hood-like cape to himself(it
was the best the store had), which he used as his superhero costume. Zor went with a more stylish
simple attire, with a red shirt and a mask, while Brianna wore a cape-like cloak and what seemed to be
an exo mask. With a little training and some basic skills learnt from master lu' this formidable trio were
ready to face anything.(or so they taught….(I sorry for them)….).
