Well so far my job has been easy, Jabari hasn't came back to school in a week. He doesn't seem to ever be coming back.

"Iza Eskinazi, would you please report to the office," I hear over the announcements. Perfect!

I knew this was too good to be true, I thought as I walked down to his office. I already know what this is about.

As soon as I walk in Principal Brown says,"Go get him." And slips me a piece of paper with an address on it.

"But-"

"Go!" he cuts me off.

As Im about to walk through the door I see Jordan and avoid that confrontation by switching to the back door. But I'm obviously too slow for my athletic boyfriend.

"Where yah going for our free period?" he says putting emphasis on the our.

"Doing a little project Principal Brown has assigned to me," I half tell the truth.

"Oh, well since you're busy I'll go with the guys," he says then just walks off. That was easy! Sometimes I feel like I'm just supposed to be with Jordan. We dont do most of the things we used to anymore. And it doesnt even seem like he cares.

I look at the address and decide that driving would be quicker. Our schoool is on the outskirts of the hood and the suburbs. But Jabari lives so deep in the hood if i was him I'd go to school as much as I could just to feel safe. As I'm driving across the street I see that there is alot of traffic built up on the main road, so I'll take the backstreets. Although they're more dangerous, atleast I wont have to wait.

Im driving at an okay pace just to look out for children playing; wouldn't want any of them hurt. But then I see a guy layed out in a pool of blood. I park my car by him and get out. Maybe that wasnt the best of ideas since im in the hood, but I feel like I need to. Not gonna lie though, I double thought about this.

"Are you okay sir?" I ask not touching the man. But he doesn't respond. So I shake him a little and I hear faint moans. These moans sound familiar though, so I turn the body over and see Jabari badly bruised with a deep cut on his cheek.

"Oh my God! What happened to you?" I say tearing up from how bad his bruises are.

"Nothing, Go!" he stries saying sternly but only comes out in a soft voice.

"No, if you wont tell me then I'm atleast taking you to the hospital," I say as I pull him off the ground to my back. Since he's taller than me, his face is leaning over my small body. But I managed to put him in the backseat and speed off to the hospital.

When I pull up to the emergency room nurses quickly shuffle him out of my car and into the hospital. I feel relieved that I made it there. I park my car and get ready to go inside and see if he's okay. While getting out of my car I glance at my back seat and see Jabari's blood. The tears flood automatically and i feel sick to my stomach. Then to see my own reflection with his blood splattered in my hair and clothes, I almost faint.

Luckily a nurse was looking for me to give Jabari's information. "Are you okay Sweetie?" she asks.

"It's just a lot going on right now'" i answer holding my stomach trying to be strong.

"Well follow me sweetheart, we need this young man's information," she says rushing inside.

I follow her quickly as I can. "Whats wrong with him? What happened?" I ask frantically.

"Your friend got into a pretty intense fight. It had to have been someone he knew because they cut him many, many times. Not to mention the bruises he received from being hit with objects. What is his name?" she asks as I feel so awful for him.

"Jabari Mathews," I answer after a while.

"Do you have a number to contact his parents?" she asks.

"No but I do have his address. I will go there and tell them," i say already moving towards the door.

"You're a really good girlfriend!" the woman calls after me as I leave. It startled me a little then i just think If only Jordan saw that!
