"Hey Michael." I said as he walked through my door.

"Hey Ash." He mumbled back.

He had a smug smile on his face, and he was sipping from a coffee cup.

"Ok, what's wrong? You hate coffee." I said, smirking.

He shrugged, sitting down on the couch beside my bed.

My eyes travelled around the coffee cup, spotting girly handwriting in a blue sharpie.

"You met a girl at Starbucks?" I guessed.

He shook his head. "You are 50% correct."

"You met a guy at Starbucks?" I said, laughing.

"No. I met a girl here. She sent me the coffee."

I nodded, still smirking.

"So what's her name?"

"Kat." He said, smiling like crazy.

"You like cats." I mused. "What does she look like?"

"She has this hair, and these eyes that just, and her lips are-"

He sighed, knowing he was going nowhere.

"Was she just visiting?"

He shook his head. "Patient. I think she got here sometime last week."

"With?"

"Anorexia."

My eyes widened. "Is she-"

"Yeah. But she's still beautiful."

I nodded.

"I'm going to trust you with this, ok?" I said.

I didn't tell him with what I was trusting him with, he just knew.

Michael and I had made a pact; other than each other, don't get too attached to anyone in this hospital unit.

If they are stuck here, it means they can't go outside without the risk of dying.

Same here, but with less off that risk, and more nurses.

I've learned that the hard way.

Three years ago, I met a girl with the same type of cancer as me.

She died before I was even in this state.

Yes, I miss her, but I'm just trying to prevent the same happening with my best friend.

But he needs something more than walking around these halls.

He needs someone to love.

"I'll have to meet her." I said, and his face brightened.

Poor Ashton...
