In the end, all was well.

Ashton gained enough money to purchase prosthetic legs, and learned to walk two days after.

He was now well enough to leave the hospital.

He now runs all the time, and along the way, met his future wife, Annabel.

They got married three years later, and decided to move out to the city.

Calum died three months later, got to say goodbye to everyone properly, and was given a beautiful funeral.

Katherine realized that Michael would want her to be happy.

So she fell in love with, and married Luke four years later.

She still thinks about Michael all the time, but she is fairly happy.

She gained enough weight to leave the hospital, and started to slowly eat more and more properly.

She had a small job as a piano teacher, and Luke went back to college to be a scientist.

He succeeded and earned a lot of money.

After many cheap apartments, Kat and Luke moved out into the country.

They had two beautiful children, Michael and Callie.

When Michael turned thirteen, Kat helped him dye his hair pink.

He kept it that way.

And Kat learned a valuable lesson.

Life is depressingly hard and bumpy, but you won't reach the top of the mountain unless you keep climbing.
