As Caterina walked through Flourish and Blotts with her booklist in hand, she came across a peculiar area with a missing book in between two similar black covered books. She reached out her hand and felt an invisible book, not knowing what was contained within the pages.

"Peculiar, isn't it," a voice behind her said. She smiled, tearing her eyes away from the book, her recognizing the warmth of the familiar voice.

"Ron," the blonde haired girl smiled, rushing up to the gingered hair boy, embracing him in a hug. "How was your summer?"

He nods. "Bill took us to tombs and told us all the different kinds of curses. It was unbelievable. You wouldn't believe the trip we had." Ron was never the type to openly share a lot of information, but with him, Caterina was the only person he could really ramble on to. He's always felt differently around Hermione, Harry and Caterina always knew the reason why. While Harry was his best friend, his brother. But Harry dealt with his own demons, his own obstacles that kept him more closed off than Caterina.

As Ron gushed about his experience, they walked down the staircase and back through Diagon Alley. "Hermione wrote me letters saying you went to Rome. I wasn't aware you were going."

"I wasn't aware either. It was last minute planning. My mother has family there so we visited them for quite awhile. Quite boring if you asked me, I much rather have been hanging around you, Hermione, and Harry. Say, speaking of Harry, where is that boy? I've only heard from him once this summer. I really hope that those muggles didn't bother him too much."

"I heard he was staying at the Leaky Cauldron. Don't ask me, I was just as confused," Ron says pursing his lips together, a thing he always did around his friends when he was confused. "I also heard he made his aunt into a balloon and she flew away!" She turned her head sharply towards him as Ron roared with laughter.

As the girl focused on Ron she asked, "you're not serious are you?"

"Dead serious," he says, still laughing. "But, hey, you don't mind waiting for me do you? I have to go buy some Quidditch gear. I'm really trying to do well this year."

"Of course, go ahead," the girl smiles, always putting her friends needs before hers. Ron smiles at her and runs in the opposite direction of where they were walking, rushing inside one of the stores.

As Caterina let her curious mind wander, she felt a hand grab her hand and pull her into an alley: Knockturn Alley. The atmosphere changed from warm and happy, to cold and spine shivering. Caterina's back was against the wall, as she faced a familiar blonde haired boy who was right in front of her.

"Hi," Draco croaked out. As the girl examined Draco and her surroundings, still alarmed by being startled, she hits the boy on the arm.

"Are you mad, Draco? You know how I hate being scared," Caterina tells him.
