Ambree

I finished up on a lift kit a guy needed and put it outside to wait. I went into the office and went through paperwork that needed to be done. When I was done I packed everything up I needed before going home. It's winter, it's cold, the lake froze over creating a skating rink in itself.

I went directly up to my room and decided to run a hot bath. Mason was in the shower. He stopped the water and poked his head out. "Come here sunshine." He said as he wrapped a towel around his waist. I went right up to him letting his warmth surround me. "Your freezing sunshine." He said. I groaned as I nodded. He picked me up before setting me on the side of the tub.

He started the water making sure it was warm enough before having me pull my socks and jeans off. He ran warm water over my feet to get them back to the right temperature. I watched as he ran the water and added some bubble bath. Once it was close to up to my neck, he shut the water off and let me get out of my clothes. I sunk into the water stopping myself against the other side of the soaker tub.

"Mind if I join you sunshine?" Mason asked. I nodded sliding forward to let him have room. He got in behind me. I leaned back against him. He gently gripped one leg trying to get me to turn. I turned resting my head on his chest. "Do you forgive me for leaving you that fall after I told you I was going to the military?" He asked. "Yeah." I answered.

He sighed. "I didn't mean to tell you about that until later." He said. I wrapped my arms around him. "We all make mistakes Mason." I said. He held me against his torso. He sighed again. "What's on you mind?" I asked him. He shook his head. "Please?" I asked. "We should be married right now. We should be trying for children right now." He said.

"I know whiskey. I've thought about that too." I told him. He kissed the top of my head. Then dipped me back getting my hair wet. After a hot bath while cuddling with my man, we ate dinner then curled up together watching tv before going to bed. We both laid there until he got up and left the room.

I heard his heavy footsteps on the stairs. A second later the footsteps were back. This time a pounding as he moved quickly up the stairs. He came back into the room. "Ambree. I know those two years apart were misery. I should have done this before even saying anything about going to try and get on with the military." He said.

I moved to the side of the bed. "I love you too much to even try to not do this." He said before getting down on one knee. "Ambree. Our relationship only grew since we started dating. I meant to do this before we graduated high school. I'm asking now since I never got the chance to do it then. Will you make me a happy man and be the only one I want by my side until I'm six foot under? Will you marry me?" He asked as he pulled a box from behind his back and opened it.

Even if he didn't propose with a ring, I still would have said yes. I nodded. I got off the bed and tackled him to the ground. "It took you two and a half years to propose to me? Even if you did after you told me you were going to go to the military, I would have still said yes. I love you Mason. I never wanted anyone else to be my husband. I don't care about that time we spent apart.

"We obviously still had feelings for each other since we got back together. I'm saying yes to you because I don't want to live with the what if's, if I did say no. I already know we would have been miserable and depressed if we didn't even get back together. I will absolutely love to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you." I told him.
