"Foxy...?" You mutter for the third time, scared of what the previous sound was. The screeching metal was not pleasant to your ears, in fact, it had the effect of nails on a chalkboard, but that isn't going to scare you off. You take a few steps forward into the dimly lit room, glancing around everywhere for any trace of your friend, but he seems to be nowhere. You hear another creek of metal-on-metal, then a small thud.

What could that sound have been?

A sigh echoes around the room. "...hey..." you hear the fox say in a sad tone.

"Oh, Foxy! What's wrong? And where are you?" You say worriedly. You could never imagine your hyper friend being so gloomy, so it truly shocks you to hear him this way.

The redhead walks out from behind the fake pirate ship in the corner of the room, his head hung and his hand scratching the back of his neck as he stares at his feet. "Oh my goodness, you're a mess!" You say running up to him. It's true, too. Instead of the more formal cloak he wore when you first saw him, he stands in just a half buttoned white button up shirt and wrinkled dress pants. His shirt isn't even tucked in. His hair also looks like it hasn't been combed in days. Overall, he is a total mess. But seeing his bare chest peek through the unbuttoned part of his shirt does make you blush furiously. At the moment, you're very grateful that the room is so dark; that way it will hide your pink face. "You're going to be performing for those little kids in a few minutes! Clean yourself up quickly!" You order, reaching up to fix his hair, but he swats your hand away before you could even brush a single apple red strand.

The action shocks you to a point where you don't even know what to say. Instead you give him a questioning stare. He glances at your face, then quickly turns away again, trying to hide his face, almost as if he's ashamed for you see him this way. Maybe he is?

You force more words out of your mouth. "What's wrong? Talk to me." You say, moving yourself so you're in his line of sight.

At this he gives up trying to hide any longer, but he lets out another sigh before speaking. "I'm not going on in a few minutes. I'm not going on stage ever again. They're done with me." He chokes out, looking down at his feet again.

Your heart breaks, more at how broken he is about it than the actual situation, but your heart still sinks. "Oh, Foxy," You say, then grab his hand in an attempt to comfort him, but instead you find his knuckles feeling rough and dirty. You look down to see them covered in bruises and blood. Your eyes widen and your stomach drops at the sight. "W-what happened?" You exclaim worriedly.

He jerks his hands out of yours and walks away, headed behind the pirate ship again. You follow him. He sits down on the ground and leans against the wall, so you sit down next to him. He turns his eyes away from you.

"Why is it making you so sad?" You ask.

As soon as he opens his mouth, you know that you're in for an earful. "Entertaining those kids was everything to me! Making them smile and laugh, making them happy, it meant the world. I live to make other people happy. Ever since my life was taken away from me all those years back, bringing joy to others is the only thing I can do. It's the only worth I have left, so losing it means that I'm useless, and I hate that!" He growls, then puts his face in his hands, letting out a deep sigh. "Oh, wait," He says after a few seconds. "You don't know about us being killed, do ya?" He says, dropping his hands from his face and turning to look at you.

You're at such a loss of words from his burst that you almost forget to answer. "Goldie told me about what happened." You finally say. He gives a small nod of acknowledgement, then runs his fingers through his messy hair, leaning his head back against the wall.
