Chapter 14

Tears swell up in your eyes. "I was so scared." You squeak.

Freddy's grip around your shoulder strengthens in a comforting way before he speaks. "I'm sorry I couldn't have come sooner." He says.

You step out of his grip and turn to face him. "Thank you for saving me, Freddy." You say, forcing a smile onto your face. He looks down at you and gives you a sad smile back. You want to hug him as thanks, but he just started being nice to you, and you don't know him too well to know how he would react to that. So instead you just stand there awkwardly, holding onto your elbows.

He gives you a confused look. "What's wrong?" He asks, then quickly continues on. "Other than everything that just happened, of course."

Should you tell him? Would he get angry at even the idea of a hug? Or would he allow it out of pity? It's better to tell the truth, isn't it? That would be the right thing to do. "I-I-I want to... hug you..." You trail off, looking away, embarrassed.

He blinks. "U-uh, okay..." he mumbles. Was that an okay as in 'okay, deal with it' or an okay as in 'okay you can hug me'? You don't know.

You turn your head back and look at him shyly. "S-so, may I?" You stutter, a small blush of embarrassment dusting your cheeks.

He scratches the back of his neck and looks away. "Yeah, sure." He mutters.

You smile and take a step forward, wrapping your arms around him. "Thank you." You whisper. His arm falls down, joining the other one at his side, but they stay there and don't return the hug. Has he never hugged before? Or does he not want you to hug him? Does he not like hugs in general? You pull away slightly. "You can hug me back, you know. O-only if you want to, that is." You say, looking up at his face. He was the tallest of the animatronics, you're pretty sure, which meant he was quite a bit taller than you. This also meant you had to actually tilt your head to look at him.

"Oh, right." He says. He starts to bend down a bit, then awkwardly pauses, as if double checking with himself if this is okay, but he continues on. He folds his arms around you, pulling you closer to him. You giggle a bit, but return the hug.

You both let go after a couple of seconds, then realise that both of you are blushing. You laugh it off. "I'm not used to hugging people as tall as you are." You admit with a giggle.

"Maybe that's just because you're short." He teases.

You turn to him and pout jokingly. "Well, everyone is, compared to you." You respond, crossing your arms over your chest.

He walks towards the stairs and motions for you to go ahead of him. "Yes, that's true," he says with an amused smile, then turns back and looks at you as you make your way to the stairs. "After you."

"Thanks." You say, walking past him and up the stairs. You hear him walk behind you.

Oh man, that whole hug thing was so awkward...

You open the door at the top of the stairs and walk out, entering into the Parts and Service room. You are immediately greeted by Goldie.

"What happened?" the golden-haired bear asks, giving you a serious look. The expression didn't seem to fit his face, but you have a feeling that you'll be seeing it more often so you should get used to it.

"Ah... nothing important..." you mutter, trying not to worry him and not allowing your mind to replay the situation.

Suddenly, you feel a hand wrap around your wrist and harshly pull you to the door, away from Goldie. "Go back to the basement where you belong, Goldie." you hear Freddy's voice say as he continues to walk you to the door, not even bothering to turn and look at the other bear.
