"Bel, wake up" A voice spoke, while a hand shoke me. "You really want to hear this" The voice got excited. I sat up, half asleep on a Monday morning.
"Sash really? It's-" I raised my head to see what time it is. "Six fifty five in the morning. Let me sleep" I said, sounding like a seven year old child.
"Then I guess you don't want to know that I got you an interview" she turned away.
"What?" I stood up, really awake now. "Thank you thank you" I squeaked, jumping up and down and hugging her in the process.
"You are welcome. I was talking to Ellen's mum yesterday, you remember Ellen right?" I mouthed yes. Ellen was one of our friends from college. "She told me an housekeeper was needed at the place she works a-"
"Housekeeper?" I interrupted her. "You know I'm a housekeeping manager and that involves working in an office- which I like. Actually doing the housekeeping, I don't like"
"I know that. But you have to start from somewhere. I mean, you have been jobless for more than two weeks now and the application forma you filled in are not responding. You need this job and please don't say no because I've already booked your interview- it's at nine" I could see her hopeful face and I didn't want to let her down. She was right. I really need this job to get my life together- new start and all. This job might just be a new start. "And did I tell you it pays $39 per hour" That definitely got my attention. I was paid ten dollars less in my old job. The place I would be housekeeping most be pretty important.
I straightened my top as I got off my car. I didn't want to dress over the top, therefore I put on a lose black trouser that reached my ankle and a cream colored blouse. You might be wondering what I, an housekeeping manager was doing at an interview for an housekeeper. This is because during my course, part of my training involved some experience of actually housekeeping, so I would be alright with it.
"Wowwww" I whispered as I got a clear look at the house, my interview would take place. It was situated at a secluded part of North Wabash Avenue- the owner must be very very rich. If I thought Jason's house was big, this is a mansion. The house was built on a wide space, enough space for a gate to be at the beginning, a big pool at the side and then the two storey; brown painted house in the middle. The house looked to have at least five bedrooms, this house must be for a large family. I knocked at the black door, still marveling at the house.
"Take a sit, miss Williams" It was Ellen's mum that was interviewing me. "Looking at your at your résumé. You are really qualified. However, I would like to know why you were fires from your old job" Oh here we go, I thought.
"It's mainly because I was planning my wedding and my boss said I wasn't paying much attention to my job. But I assure you that I am 100% focused" I replied not wanting to go into much detail about my personal life. Which I am quite sure that she has already heard about from her daughter.
"I believe you. You are hired, I mean, you are more qualified than others and have more experience. I will see you tomorrow at eight to go through how the job should be done and the rules made by the boss" I got the job! I was so ecstatic.
"Thank you, I won't let you down" I shpke her hands and walking out of the house. I just realized that I haven't actually seen my boss. But oh well, at least I have a job now.
