Rewind Villainess

Chapter Ten

Most Awaited

"Tch. Why do we have to stay outside?" Xion complained as he folded his arms together. His white hair dishevelled and his cold violet eyes still the same as ever. Xion wore a thin white shirt under his black jacket that fastened with belts. It was something that Reeves has given him as a gift. Joined with brown pants with a long sword strapped to it's belt and brown muddy boots. It was muddy because of the unavoidable puddles that they have stepped on.

"Stop yapping. If we go inside we'd cause a ruckus in there." Lydia replied, glaring at him. For her to say that, it was mostly Xion's fault. She leaned on the wooden wall behind her, rubbing her temples as she did so. It was a habit she had picked up ever since Xion came along.  Lydia's black hair still kept the same length and her deep green eyes held great annoyance at the moment. Lydia wore a white long-sleeved shirt that wasn't properly tucked in her black pants. Along with a pair of the same brown muddy boots. Tied to her right leg is a strap with four daggers that she inherited from her father.

They were currently outside a small cottage in Czyrek. In the middle of a forest. Which just so happened to be abandoned. Lydia and Xion were outside because that's how it has always been. "We've been through so many quests. Why won't they let us join in their discussion?" Xion ranted, yawning after he did so.

"It's probably because this time, it's serious." Lydia shared her opinion.  She did hear rumour's about Czyrek. Because well, a rumour spreads like wild fire. This kingdom is on the process falling apart. In her earlier years, she had taken notes of every quest that she and Xion have gone on. And in all those years, she kept track of every detail. But not one showed the existence of the heroine. A picture of a girl with brown braided hair and  ruby red eyes flashed in her mind. Surely this time. It must be this quest. She's been feeling a little weird ever since she stepped foot on Czyrek. It felt familiar.

Was this the island?

Why is this part blocked out when she had gone over this life six times?

Before she could even ponder on it deeper, Xion opened his mouth to speak. "I hate staying outside in spring. The pollen is making me sick." He sneezed like a cat before rubbing his nose with his thumb. "Geez. You sneeze like a girl." Lydia joked him, chuckling a bit. For a moment, it got things off of her mind.

It's been ten years since the day they have met. The both of them are now eighteen years old so they have now matured and acted their age. Although that was only sometimes.

Even though they always fought, they had a pretty good relationship. And the other one would always help the other if that person get's in trouble. It was nothing like Former Lydia's relationship with Xion. Actually, from Lydia's point of view, Xion has also changed a bit. He wasn't so uptight anymore like he was before. Nor was he very passive. The Xion now is drived to build his own future with his own hands. Xion was still cuely stubborn but heactually cares.   She was certain something had changed in the plot ever since she refused to be the unfortunate villainess. But most important of all, Lydia was still a bit taller that him. And that fact made her happy because she had something to tease him with.

Also, the reason that Xion and Lydia now have weapons is because they are now being taught to fight. Xion's purpose to fight was to accomplish missions. According to Alexander, he taught Lydia to fight so that she could ward off boys who would approach her. They've were already going on quests together since they were fourteen. They already treat each other as best friends.

They were currently outside a small cottage in Czyrek. In the middle of a forest. Which just so happened to be abandoned. It only adds up more evidence to the fact that this is really an important quest.

"Should we listen in?" Asked Lydia raising a brow at Xion. "Yeah sure. It's not like they would get mad." He replied before casually pressing his ear against the wooden door.

A big pouch of gold coins is placed on the table. "I beg of you. Please save our country." The man bowed. His voice filled with determination. It seems that he doesn't want to back down. This man is the former Prime Minister of the kingdom of Czyrek where he is known as Eric Petreuch. He had red fiery hair and light blue eyes. He should have had everything and yet he was here, begging to eradicate the injustice in the country. Reeves leaned back on his chair with his arms folded. He had certainly grown much older than before. "What do you think Alexander?"

"We should help him. Corruption in the Kingdom of Czyrek is getting worse."

"But still, don't you get money from all of the corruption in it's government?" Reeves asked as he entwined his fingers together. The glint in his eye affirmed that it's a trick question. Alexander immediately understood that Eric Petreuch is being tested. "Yes. I do. But I don't use any of it. I give it back to the people. They are the rightful one's who should use it. I only use my own savings to support my family. And besides, I am already the former Prime Minister."

After a while of silence, Reeves spoke up. "Alright. We'll take on the quest." He said. Some will wonder why he accepted it just like that. It might be a trap because the crew of Platinum Anchors is deliberately being chased down by people who are linked with crimes. Why? Because they're the one's wiping them out. And yet they still continue to stubbornly chase after him and die just like that.

But this man was different. The sincerity in his eyes is different. Eric Petreuch really wanted to save his country from ruin and to protect his family. But he knew that he couldn't do it on his own. It took painstaking work for him to even find and get contact with the Platinum Anchors.

"But we've got to do some planning." Reeves added.

"Let the kids in. They must be bored." He motioned for them to open the door. Before Lydia and Xion would have stumbled forward and face plant on the floor, they backed away from the door when it swung open. "Get inside." Said Priggs, motioning them to come closer.

The both of them walked in, waiting for further instructions. "We've decided to assign you to this quest." Alexander explained. Although he was worried about the welfare of his child, he knew that she was already eighteen. So Alexander thought of this as a way to help his daughter grow. He fiddled with Jane's ring inside his pocket. Alexander always carried it with him. Sooner or later he should give it to Lydia.

Upon Alexander's words, Xion's eyes brightened but he didn't dare let it show that much. Lydia simply nodded, showing her understanding. "But you have to know that this mission should not be taken lightly." Alexander warned them, a stern look in his eyes. "Well, what is this quest all about?" Lydia asked, she was anxious. Somehow, she felt nervous as she waited for an answer. They didn't catch some of the words that were being said from outside. Reeves chuckled.

"This is to overthrow the King of Czyrek."
