Aphmau stood outside her new house with a heavy box in her arms and a giant grin on her face. After a long time of house searching and planning, she has finally been able to move into her new house with her childhood friends. All they have to do now is finish unpacking. Aphmau pushed through the front door and ascended up when a loud thud echoed from one of the rooms and caused her to stop. She carefully lowered the box to the ground and approached the door, only to crash into another someone. However before she could fall, Aphmau felt strong arms wrap around her and hold her steady.

"Woah careful there Aph." Apmau looked up to see light blue eyes and even lighter blue hair. For a moment, she got lost in those eyes for a minute before realising how close she was.  Startled, Aphmau jumped back.

"Hey no need to be so jittery, it's just me".

'Exactly.' Aphmau thought to herself while turn red.

"S-sorry Katelyn, I didn't see where I was going. So claiming this room for yourself?" Aphmau asked, desperately trying to change the subject. Katelyn shook her head.

"Nah this is your room. Kawaii-chan and I thought that you should have the biggest room since you're paying the most of the rent." Before Aphmau could protest, Katelyn continued.

"And before you say anything your stuff is already there so you have no choice".  Katelyn smiled triumphantly while Aphmau opened and closed her mouth repeatedly, trying to make some form of reply. Eventually she gave up and just shrugged her shoulders before hugging Katelyn as thanks. Katelyn froze for a second, turning slightly red then softly wrapped her arms around Aphmau. They stayed like that for a moment before Aphmau pulled away claiming that she should finish moving their stuff before she turned around and picked the large box then retreating to her new room.

As soon as the door closed, she repeatedly smacked herself on the forehead.

'What was that? You scramble away cause of how close you were and then you randomly hug her? Oh my Irene, I must have looked like an idiot.'  Aphmau shook her head in embarrassment and proceeded to unload her belongings. Upon opening one of the boxes, she found a purple bandana amongst a bundle of anime posters. Aphmau smiled, remembering how she got that bandana.

Flashback

"I don't know if I can do this Aaron". Aphmau, dressed in her school uniform, sat on her brother's bed while panicking.

"Aphmau first calm down, your ears are showing." On instinct, Aphmau covered her head with her hands, feeling her small furry ears press against them. She closed her eyes and concentrated and soon she felt those ears vanish. She softly sighed before looking back at her brother.

"Good. Now stop panicking. You're going to be ok and it's not like you're gonna be alone, I'll be there with you and you'll also make new friends." He paused for a bit. Aaron noticed that Aphmau hasn't lowered her hands from her head, right where her ears would be. He sighed and sat next to her.

"It's not first day jitters is it?" She shook her head.

"What if I can't hide it, the fact that I'm an Ultima or even a werewolf. What if I mess up and everyone would know. What if I turn someone?" A hand planted itself in Aphmau's head and ruffled her hair a little.

"You'll be fine, you remember Melissa's rules right?" Aphmau nodded.

Rule 1 - when out in public, wear a hood or hat as often as possible.

Rule 2- if you're feeling overwhelmed, hide yourself in any way possible. Even if your eyes don't feel like they're about to change.

Rule 3- if you find yourself unable to switch back, shut your eye and focus on breathing.

Before Aphmau could recite the rules, Aaron spoke up.

"Oh right I need to give you something." Aaron opened a drawer behind him and pulled out a long purple bandana. He then tied it around Aphmau's arm.

"If you can't go to the bathroom, use this to hide your eyes, it'll help stop you from turning other people." She nodded and smiled. Aaron lightly patted her on the back.

"You'll be fine, don't worry."

Present Day

Aphmau smiled at the memory, remembering the many times she had to retreat to the bathroom or hide but she never found herself using the cloth in her hands. Aphmau then retried her bandana on her left wrist. She ended up staring at it for a good minute before a high pitch voice called her from downstairs.

"Aphmau-sempai, can you help Kawaii-chan with these boxes, they're heavy!"

"Coming!" Aphmau yelled back while exiting her new room, ready to start her new life.
