I went to my 'boss' (wouldn't he like to know who I really was), and reported that my wife was ill and needed me home right away.
"Alright, Jax," he said,"Go home, take care of your wife. Have a little vacation. You need it. You work so hard here..."
I was already out the door the second he said 'okay'.
My holoform climbed in and I revved my engine. Right now, all I could think of was Orchid and the man she had called 'Lockdown'. The name seemed slightly familiar, but I didn't quite remember who it belonged to.
I tapped in Orchid's coordinates and followed her signal closely.
Soon, I caught up with her, but she didn't stop.
"Where are you going?" I asked through the commlink.
"Out of the city," she replied,"If Lockdown wants to fight, then we must do it away from prying human eyes."
"What makes you think he wishes to fight?" I asked.
Orchid was silent before asked,"Do you really wanna know?"
"Would I ask if I didn't?"
I heard Orchid sigh on the other end of the comm,"Alright, this might make you mad, but he caught me in a bathroom stall. He knows who I am, Optimus. He even said my real name, not 'Leslie'. We could be in danger."
"With that, I agree," I said, then cleared my throat,"H-he didn't catch you in the men's room did he?"
Orchid laughed,"Nope, ladies."
I blushed bright blue and was grateful she couldn't see me.
After about half an hour of driving, a black Lamborghini drove up behind me.
"That's him!" Orchid exclaimed.
"Optimus Prime!" sneered a cold, male voice through my commlink,"So nice of you to join the chase."
"Who are you?" I asked, speeding up slightly.
The Lamborghini sped past me and hit the brakes. I had to put on my emergency brakes to keep from slamming into him. Orchid stopped a few feet ahead, but I knew she was listening carefully.
The Lamborghini laughed and transformed, turning to face me.
"I...am Lockdown," he sneered, his right servo transforming into a hook, which he slammed into the ground...right where I had parked seconds before.
I transformed as well and faced the black mech.
Lockdown, like Orchid, had unusually colored optics. However, they were emerald green, not gold rimmed with maroon, and they were cold and ruthless, not warm and caring like hers.
Lockdown stared challengingly into my optics and smirked.
"Your companion has a lovely holoform," he said,"Tell me, Optimus Prime, is her bi-ped mode as beautiful?"
I ground my teeth together and fought to control my anger. I slid my battle mask on and took a fighting stance.
"Prettier than you, bucket-helm," Orchid shot back, transforming and unsheathing her deadly claws.
Lockdown turned around, and his green optics widened in shock.
"You truly are a gem," he said,"Perhaps when I'm done with your leader, I shall claim you as mine."
"Not gonna happen," Orchid spat, sliding her own battle mask on.
I tackled Lockdown from behind, knocking the slightly smaller mech over.
"Run!" I shouted at Orchid.
"Humans! Shoot him! Shoot him!" Lockdown shouted.
A lot of black cars with guns mounted on top surrounded me. Men grabbed them and opened fire on me and Orchid.
Orchid spread her wings and covered herself and me, the bullet-proof feathers protecting us.
"Well, this is a surprise!" I shouted over the noise.
"Yeah, no kidding!" Orchid replied, seconds before Lockdown tackled her over.
The mech and Orchid were evenly matched, both being the same size and status of warrior. The only difference, was that Orchid was a Tibaksi, much faster and deadlier than any other warrior on Cybertron.
Orchid kicked Lockdown off, but he seemed uninterested in her and attacked me again.
He caught me in the shoulder-plate with his hook and whirled me into a building.
I got up again and blocked his next attack, retaliating with a blow to his mid-section.
We fought tirelessly, Orchid throwing in a few hits here and there, but mostly taking out the cars with the guns on top that kept shooting me!
Suddenly, as I was distracted by a nearby car exploding, Lockdown lunged and hit me close to my spark-chamber with his dagger. It barely missed, but the pain was unbearable. Worse than when Sentinel tore my arm off.
I shouted and staggered back.
Lockdown I'm certain would have finished me off then and there, but Orchid attacked him, at the same time using her metal powers to keep the bullets away from me.
"RUN, OPTIMUS! RUN!" she shouted urgently at me, her voice compelling me to move my legs and escape.
I transformed and, once I was out of sight, scanned a different truck and left.
I felt terrible for leaving Orchid, but my chest hurt so badly, it overcame the pull to return to my Sparkmate's side.
I drove all the way to Texas. By then, I was almost dead with exhaustion and energon loss. One night, I drove into an old theater and parked in the shadows where hopefully nobody would see me and fell into a deep, deep recharge.
I didn't dream, I just fell asleep and didn't awaken.
My last thought, before I fell asleep was, 'I never asked Orchid...'
