I slid down the ramp into the ship after Crosshairs

I slid down the ramp into the ship after Crosshairs. The green mech extended a servo and helped me the rest of the way down, even though I was fully capable of getting down myself.
That was one of the things I loved most about him.
However, right now I was more worried about my brother and friend.
"Keep your optics sharp," I said, pulling out my double-bladed staff.
"Lockdown's ship has booby-traps," Hound said.
Crosshairs listed all the possible traps on the ship, but I barely listened.
I pulled out a tracker and looked at it. It was very fuzzy. I hit it and swore.
"This ship is interfering with the tracker's signal," I muttered,"I can't get a clear read."
Crosshairs took the device from me and shook it a few times.
"Yep, it's broken," he said, habding it back to me.
I sighed and put it away,"Alright then, we split up. Drift, Blue Moon, Crosshairs, you try and buy us some time before the ship launches, Kamicazii, Hound, Bumblebee, you're with me."
"We must be quick," Drift said,"We have the element of surprise."
A long tentacle reached out for the blue samurai, ultimately freaking him out.
On instinct, Drift lashed out with his katana and killed the creature.
"Yeeeaugh! Hate those things," Crosshairs grimaced.
"It is not alive anymore," Drift replied calmly.
"Well, we looked, they're not 'ere, let's go," Crosshairs said turning around.
"What?" Cade said,"Hey I'm not going anywhere without Tessa."
"I'm unclear," the green mech growled, advancing on the man,"What's in it for me?"
Oh yeah, and he can be a real pain in the tailpipe too.
Hound, however, put a stop to that.
"What's in it for you is I don't kill ya. We're gettin' the boss back, and the girl as well as Orchid. Copy?"
"Okay okay, very persuasive, textbook Machismo," Crosshairs replied then looked around.
"Crosshairs, you go with Drift and Blue Moon, now,"I ordered.
Crosshairs gave me a cheeky wink and went off with the couple.
I signalled for the rest to follow me and Cade departed with Shane.
"We only have about ten minutes, guys," I said,"So this better be quick."
"Aura," Kamicazii asked,"Do you think Orchid will be okay?"
I turned to look at the femme and smiled a little.
"She's Orchid, Kamicazii. Of course she will be okay."
******************************
After a few minutes of sneaking through the ship, it suddenly lurched, nearly throwing all of us against a wall of caged creatures.
"That's our cue, guys," I whispered,"Move!"
We met up with the others near the center of the ship.
"Great job," I said,"Now, do any of you know where that jerkface might've taken my brother?"
"I would suggest first looking in here," Crosshairs piped up, jabbing a digit at a large door behind us.
"Hound, Kamicazii, watch our backs," I ordered the two before getting to work on the door.
I knelt by the control panel and looked at it carefully.
It looked fairly simple, I could probably unlock it.
I unhooked the cover and was greeted by at least fifty wires and cables.
"Oh scrap," I sighed.
"What is it?" Crosshairs asked, coming and kneeling next to me, then seeing the cabling,"Oh!"
"Well," I said, cracking my knuckles,"let's not waste any time."
I knew which cable to look for and which one to attach it to, the only problem, was that there were so many fragging cables!
I poked a couple of them experimentally with my digits.
"This thing is exceedingly...complex," I sighed.
"And possibly trapped," Blue Moon added.
"Yeah, thanks for the warning," I nodded.
I looked at the cables again. This was going to take forever.
"Here, let me," Crosshairs said, gently pushing me aside and immediately set off a trap.
Seven tiny knives shot out from between the cables and embedded themselves in Crosshairs' chest-plate.
He grimaced,"Well...can't do anything about that."
I stifled a laugh and went help him pull the little blades out. They hadn't gone deep, but thet still looked like he had tried to hug a very strange porcupine.
However, when I looked at the cables again, several of them had been cut, meaning unlocking the door by that means would no longer work.
"Could you try and lever it open?" Kamicazii asked from her position by the doorway.
I tapped my chin,"That might work. Drift, help me."
I stabbed one end of my staff into a groove in the door and Drift did the same with his katana.
"One. Two. Three. Go!" I said and we both grunted as we tried to lever the door open.
After about three unsuccessful tries I was about to give up.
I stood back and wiped my fore-helm.
Suddenly I heard a muffled shriek and Hound shushing someone.
I whirled around to see the gun-slinger holding...Orchid! He had put his servo on her mouth to keep her from screaming.
"Orchid, it's us," Hound explained.
At first, Orchid's gold optics were wild and terrified, but as we all pitched in to calm her, she eventually did.
"Wha...how?" she asked.
I hugged her,"Good to see you too. Now, we need help opening this door."

Author's Note: Sorry for the short chapter, but I am currently not feeling very joyful at the moment. Rather depressed actually.
I'd much rather not talk about it.
Anyway, enjoy the book.
