my brothers, a few employees, and I unloaded the truck and carried the flowers into the venue. the place was absolutely beautiful, a gorgeous five star hotel that looked like it had been graced by the fingers of god himself. it's like no place I've ever seen, much less that I've ever stayed in.
once I arrived into the ballroom, I was greeted by the groom himself.
"hey (y/n)! good to see you here! let me help you." finn exclaimed, taking the flowers out of my hands. "oh no, you don't have to do that. I can handle it." I tried to reason. "no no no, this is my wedding, I need to do something to help." he smiled. I felt my face turn red at the sight.
god dammit.
"okay, now where do you want these?" "I uh.. um.. o-over there." I stutter, pointing in a random direction. finn makes his way over to the spot. I turn as I feel a hand on my shoulder.
"who the- andrew! you scared me!" I shouted at my younger brother, while punching him in the shoulder. "who's that big sis?" he asks playfully, poking me repeatedly in my side. "stop it! he's just a friend, his name is finn." I answer. "when's your guys' first date?" "god do you ever shut up? he's the groom, moron." he makes a hissing noise with his teeth. "damn, harsh. why do you gotta go after a married man? that's nessa's job." we both laugh at his joke. Nessa was our cousin that ended up convincing her current husband to divorce his wife for her. we joke about it often. "I'm not going after him! he's just my friend asshole!" I say through laughs.
finn comes back from setting the flowers down. "thank you finn, you're such a great help." I compliment. "don't mention it." he turns to my brother. "I don't think we've met, I'm finn." he introduces. "we haven't. I'm andrew, (y/n)'s brother." "great to meet you man." the boys shake hands and finn seems to relax himself, as if he were nervous. I assume it's because of the special day, but I choose not to think about it further.
"so where's the truck? I'm happy to help as much as I can." he asks us. "it's right outside, I'll take you there." andrew offers. finn nods and follows him, smiling at me. I watch them walk outside and start getting to work.
after about an hour of working, the boys coming in and out of the building, all of the flowers are nearly halfway done. I feel a soft tap on my shoulder. I turn to see my older brother, garrett. "hey gar, what's up?" I say, looking up at my brother. he was always super tall. "he really loves you." he states in a low voice. "what?" I whisper shout. "finn, the groom, he's in love with you." he re-states blandly. "what are you talking about? he's getting married today." I disclose, going back to my work. "I see it, the way he looks at you, the way he smiles in your direction, the way he acts. (y/n) you have to listen, he can't get married to that girl. he needs you, and you need him. you've been so much happier with him around. please listen to me." he forces me to look at him. he always had an eye for relationships. he knew love when he saw it. when I fell in love with my ex, he warned me that he wasn't the one. and he was right, that boy cheated on me. I knew he was right. "there's nothing I can do, he's getting married to iris tonight. even if he does love me, he's couldn't possibly ditch iris for me. that's cruel." I sigh, tears nearly breaking their barrier behind my eyes.
garrett pulls me into his chest for a hug. we've always been closer to each other than anyone else in the family. though he was quiet, and the complete opposite to andrew, he was still an amazing brother. he wasn't just my brother, but my friend.

the time for the wedding came about. since I wasn't invited to the actual wedding, my brothers and I sent the employees home so we could explore the expensive hotel.
finn's pov
I stood at the alter, sweating up a storm. I was about to get married to a woman I didn't love. I never really loved her, I didn't want to marry her. as soon as I got down on my knee I knew it was wrong, I knew that being involved with iris wasn't right. I looked over the crowd. friends and families from both sides, happy as can be for us, smiling and chatting. I scanned the whole room. gifts and food, decorations and...flowers. I sighed and looked to the priest. he smiled kindly, noting my nervousness.
music filled the room, and the doors opened. out came iris and her father, arms linked together in union. her father was good man, he liked me and my family. he had a big smile plastered on his face, while iris still somehow didn't. her face was straight and emotionless as usual. she stepped to the alter in her sky-high, sparkling heels.
the priest had us repeat his words, we didn't write our own vows. as we inched closer and closer to the end, I got more and more nervous.
"iris apatow, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?" he asked the blonde. "I do." she agreed. I slipped the silver ring onto her slender finger. he turned to me, "finn wolfhard, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?" I froze. I couldn't say it, I just couldn't. I couldn't lie and live the rest of my life with someone I can't stand. I wasn't in love with iris, I was in love with someone else. I looked over my shoulder, all eyes on me, I focused on the flowers.
I was in love with (y/n).
"I... I... I'm sorry. I can't marry you. I don't love you." I confessed. the whole room gasped in unison, and so did iris.
I bolted out of the room, embarrassed of myself for my mistake. I should've waited. I should've listened to my gut before proposing to iris.
I had to find (y/n).
I ran all over the hotel like a mad man, whipping my head around like I was running away from some sort of monster.
finally, I found her. she was in the garden, spending time with her brothers. I sprinted outside, running as fast as I could to get to her. once I reached her, I grabbed her waist and connected our lips together.

I hear loud clicks speeding fast in my direction. I turn to see finn, running towards my brothers and I. I didn't have time to even question what was going on before he collided our bodies together. his hands on my waist and his lips attached to mine, as if we were siamese twins and this was our unfortunate connection.
his lips were soft but slightly chapped around the edges. they expressed pure love and passion, as if he would never kiss again, like nothing else in the world mattered. when he finally pulled away, I stared into his dark chocolate eyes in shock.
"I'm sorry." was all he said, his hands still enveloping my waist. "I-I don't understand." I managed to mumble, thousands of emotions and thoughts clouding my head.
"I.. I don't love Iris. I actually can't stand her. I can't willingly be around her when I know the perfect girl for me exists and is struggling. I can't handle lying to someone I once thought I loved while knowing I've been meant for this girl. this girl is you. I love you (y/n), and I know that I can't marry iris."
I was in shock. I didn't know what to say, what could I say? this guy I met a few weeks ago is confessing his love for me while his fiancé is in the same hotel probably crying over the fact that the man she loves is in love with a girl that helped them decorate their wedding! this is insane!
I don't know what came over me, but I let every thought from my head dissipate, and pressed my lips to his once more. softly, this time.
when we detached, I finally spoke, "I think I love you too." I exhale.
then, the curly locked man lifted his lips into his into an award winning smile, with more happiness and love than I've ever seen before. and I know that I truly am in love.
