Her Dream

The Audition

Anastasia stood outside of the tall building. Her palms were sweating and her legs were shaking. She knew that inside of this building, dreams could be made or they could be shattered. She hadn't even told her mother she was doing this. She knew her mom wouldn't support her,but this was something she yearned for.

She took a deep breath and stepped inside. It was a black and white theme on the inside, with a waiting area. Anastasia walked over to the receptionists desk, and spoke calmly. "Excuse me i'm here to see Josh." The receptionist looked up from her magazine, and eyeballed Anastasia.

"Oh, so you must be the girl auditioning today." Anastasia rolled her eyes, "Yes ma'am that's me." The receptionist just pointed to a door. "You can go into his office through that door, and good luck girly, your gonna need it." The receptionists focus was back on her magazine in a flash. Anastasia muttered a thanks and walked into his office.

Inside the office it was the same black and white theme. Anastasia sat down in one of the chairs, and waited patiently for Josh to notice her. Josh spun around to face her, and thought to himself She looks awfully young. Josh got out her profile from his desk and looked it over. She was only 16 years old, and the record label rarely got young people around her age anymore.

"So kiddo, what are you gonna perform for me today?" Josh asked with a cocked eyebrow. Anastasia was deep in thought at the time and when she heard his voice, she jumped. "Uh, im gonna be performing Feeling Good by Nina Simone sir." Josh sat back in his chair, "Well go ahead begin."

Anastasia stood up, and began to sing. Josh couldn't believe what he was hearing. She had the voice of an angel! He knew then and there that he had to sign her, but also knew that she was too young. When Anastasia finished she sat back down and waited nervously for Josh to speak.

Josh walked over to Anastasia, and looked into her eyes. "Sweetheart, that was wonderful!" Anastasia's eyes grew wide. "Really?!?" She could hardly contain her excitement. "Yes it really was. How about you come back in a week with your parents and we discuss some things." Anastasia looked down at her hands, "Uhh...sure." Josh shook hands with Anastasia and they parted ways.
