"We are so getting arrested, arrested, arrested!" Ellie sang as for the fourth time that night as I picked a lock to get into a place that we didn't belong. "No officer, they forced me. I was merely a prisoner."
"El, what are you doing?" Pascal demanded from behind me.
"Obviously practicing my speech for when the authorities get here."
"For the love of God, I told you we aren't getting arrested." I exclaimed, finally swinging the gym doors open.
"You've told me a lot of things, Aqua. Doesn't make them true." I looked back at him but he was just making eye movements from Pascal to me. My eyes grew wide while I quickly looked away.
I had no idea what he was talking about.
That's what I told myself anyway.
"I said it and I'll say it again, I should not be here." Cooper proclaimed, staring at the gym. I couldn't agree with him more as a memory rushed to me.
Dodgeball is not a sport. It is not a game. It is not an activity meant for P.E..
It is war.
It is a battle disguised as a game with two set sides: the jocks verses everyone else. I don't care how many rules they make or how soft they make the balls, it will always be war. Now, let me set the battles scene. The soldiers are the tenth grade class of Camden high school. On offense was the baseball and basketball players with their strong arms and fast reflexes.
On defense were the rest of they class that weren't good enough for the all star team. They all had gotton out -including Ellie who was in my class and he only got out because he was cleaning his glasses and didn't see the ball coming- so all that were actually left battlefield were me and a blonde named Sky. He was left still standing because he was a gymnast and was able to quickly dodge the balls, and throw a few here and there. I was still in because I hid in the back until the line of defense became casualties, leaving little old Aqua-Marie to save herself.
Nia and her prickly friend Catie were on the other team, gunning those horrible bullet like balls at me but I just slid out of the way the best I could.
"Hey, Aqua, right?" I glanced at Sky and nodded, shocked that he was talking to me. I may have had a crush on him but I wasn't entirely sure. I liked his hair and he could shred on guitar. He also carried himself in the halls with a type of self confidence that didn't need validation.
"Yes, and you're Sky."
He smiled before quickly doing a back hand string to dodge an incoming ball. Our team cheered. "I'll cover for you and you cover for me. We need to have each others backs if we want to even think about winning."
I nodded, even though he had to know I wasn't athletic at all.
"Watch out!"I turned her in time to see a ball sailing my way. Without thinking about it, and I kid you not, I reached out and caught the ball. That was when I realized that Nia was the one who had thrown it.
