"Wow, what a lovely day!" exclaimed Swiftkit.
"Swiftkit! It's not even sunrise yet!" Pikekit yelled irritably.
Swiftkit woke up with a lot of energy coursing through her paws, "It's another big day and we need to start it off, and fast!"
She quickly nudged everyone awake. The kits all mumbled and groaned.
"What in the name of StarClan..." Brightdust muttered, somewhat irritably, "Go to sleep, all of you."
"But-" started Swiftkit quickly.
Brightdust sent a glare full of daggers at the she-kit, who shrunk back into her nest.
The ragged, white-pelted she-kit decided it would be best to fool the queens by just laying there for a bit. She lay still, breathing evenly, and then decided everything was fine to sneak out, despite virtually nothing being different.
Swiftkit quietly dragged Pikekit out of the nursery despite his irritated hisses.
"Be quiet!" Swiftkit speedily whipped her tail to cover Pikekit's muzzle. He grumbled angrily.
Swiftkit finally felt safe from the queen's watchful gazes and pricked ears somewhat near the nursery. She turned to Pikekit with an excitable lash of her brown-tipped tail.
"I found this new game," she started.
"What is it this time? There's a new Clan in the forest and we banished them out seasons ago? There are three cats who are told to have great power in their paws? There are two sisters who have an interesting ability but they never use it when it could be useful?" Pikekit questioned.
Swiftkit hissed, "That's not even close!"
"Then tell me!" Pikekit stomped a paw.
A light brown tabby she-kit soon crawled from the nursery.
"I heard voices," announced Applekit.
They both blinked at her.
"What are we talking about?" She then asked curiously, heading over and tilting her head.
A huff escaped Swiftkit, "Basically, there are these creatures-"
"Sheep? Cats? Dogs?" asked Applekit inquisitively.
Pikekit's expression deepened to a frown.
"No, but some look like those. Anyway," Swiftkit continued, "They're catchable and it's our job to catch them all!"
"Gotta catch 'em all!" shouted Pigeonkit, who was now barreling towards them excitedly, and followed by a somewhat enthusiastic Troutkit.
Cloverkit guided her dim brother over carefully. She looked excited enough.
"So, how do we see them?" asked Pikekit casually.
"What do we have to do to catch them?" questioned Cloverkit as she glanced at Swiftkit.
"Where are they?" asked Applekit curiously.
"A-are the-there r-rare k-kinds-?" stuttered Troutkit shyly.
Swiftkit stomped a paw to quickly interrupt the escalating situation, "If you just let me answer you'd all be happier!"
Silence settled over the kits.
Swiftkit breathed in, "They're called Pokemon, also known as pocket monsters."
The kits gasped as they leaned closer to Swiftkit to learn more.
"Are they like the monsters on the Thunderpath?" Applekit worriedly asked.
"No, not even close! You train them to a really high level. Some of them evolve into bigger pokemon!" Swiftkit excitedly explained; she giggled at every sentence.
"And- and some of them are really cute, some are really strong, and there are a few that are exceptional, not the best, but they still have really cool names! You catch them in these things called Pokeballs and there are different types as well. There's the regular, great, ultra, master, love, quick, and a few of them for types!"
The crowd of kits were intrigued by this concept and they really wanted to get started as soon as possible.
"The starter Pokémons are the Pokémon in the territory."
"What do you do when you want to choose one?" Applekit questioned.
"You catch it with the pokeball you have," Swiftkit answered.
Applekit's eyes sparkled while she caught the squirrel looking one.
"You got a Pachirisu!" Pikekit cheered.
"So adorable," Cloverkit commented, "I have a cute one as well!" She showed her mouse pokemon, "Her name is Dedenne."
"I want a cute one too," Pigeonkit complained, crossing his two front paws while sitting.
"Pigeonkit, there's a cute one!" Swiftkit pointed at the small Pidove.
"AWWWW it's a small bird!" Pigeonkit screeched and he threw the red and white pokeball at the creature.
The pokeball shook a few times and made a popping noise, signifying that the creature had been caught. Later on, Troutkit got a Lanturn which was a yellow and blue fish with a lantern hanging from the head.
"It kind of looks like an anglerfish," Cloverkit meowed.
"Hooray! We have pokemon, we could battle each other to level them up." Swiftkit explained some more.
The kits kept throwing their pokeballs around the camp and the pokemon came out. They all made noises around the warriors den not thinking about the consequences.
"Use razor leaf, Treecko!" Pikekit called out to the gecko.
"Squirtle, use bubbles!" Swiftkit commanded.
The siblings were fighting each other while the others watched in awe and joy, hoping that they could join the fun. Around the middle of the battle, a few warriors got up and started to group up for patrols.
"What is this nonsense? What are these things and why do you have to disturb my sleep!?" Doefoot yowled so loud that it echoed around the forest, causing birds to fly away.
"Settle down, Doefoot. They're just kits," Littletail calmly spoke.
Doefoot took a deep breath but inhaled a scent similar to crowfood. The she-cat vomited on the ground and fainted from the smell.
"What's going on?" Frognose asked, rubbing his eyes, and not believing what he was seeing. He must've decided he didn't care because he left the kits with Littletail so he could join the patrol.
The stench filled the air quickly as some of the kits try to cover their noses and covering themselves in leaves.
"I-it's Furzekit's p-pokemon," Troutkit shuttered.
"What's this pokemon thing," the warriors asked in unison.
"Well, Swiftkit has a game and we were all really bored so we went with it," Pigeonkit answered, "I didn't contribute to anything. They're always boring."
Cloverkit glared at him, "No, he definitely was apart of this game too! He has a Pidove."
"Pigeonkit has a Pidove, oh my gosh it matches! That's amazing," Brindleswipe mumbled from behind the other warriors, and then added, "I want to join you guys!" Brindleswipe bounced up and down happily.
Littletail slapped Brindleswipe with her paw sheathed, "Don't even think about it, you're on the hunting patrol today."
Brindleswipe cried as he padded away from the clearing.
Littletail sighed, "I'm telling your parents that you kits are causing trouble again."
The kits sat down, thinking over their actions as they played with their pokemon, waiting for their parents to arrive.
"This is all your fault," Pikekit sneered at Swiftkit as they all returned to the nursery. Swiftkit, Pikekit, Troutkit, Applekit, Cloverkit, Pigeonkit, and Furzekit sleep, knowing that their journey will continue.
