"I'm telling you Victor likes you." I had girl issues at the moment, so I went to talk to Emma. I know she tried to kill me when we first met, but that's all water under the bridge. Besides, Olive and Claire wouldn't be of any help, Fiona doesn't talk much and I felt weirded out talking to Bronwyn about this. Since Luna had gone out for a swim, I had no other options. "He probably doesn't like me, Emma," I said. "He might just think I'm hot." She put a warm hand on my shoulder. "I know the feeling. Abe was the same way when he first met me."
As I looked at her, she started to tear up. "What's wrong?" I asked. Emma wiped at her tears. "It's nothing. Just a memory." Sniffling, she went to grab a tissue, but it burst into flames when she touched it. "Let me," I insisted. Taking a tissue, I gently wiped away her tears.
"I'm sorry I tried to kill you when we first met," she said. "Your eyes are smoke-colored and..." she trailed off. I shushed her.
"I understand. If were you, I would have done the same thing. I'm just glad we're friends now."

After the changeover, I walked through the woods to the place where Victor told me to meet him. The changeover was scary, but it was also kind of funny with the way everyone sang that song in time with the bombs dropping. I had that song stuck in my head now and it just wouldn't go away.
"He'll get by without his rabbit pie," I sang under my breath. "So, Run, rabbit! Run, rabbit! Run!" Next, I heard a faint "meow" and Katie was beside me. "Go bother Lance," I ordered, but the patchy tabby kept pace with me.
"Roxanne, you're sixteen. You're not safe alone after dark."
I shrugged at the cat's comment. "I can take care of myself. Besides, I won't be alone. I'll be with Victor."
I heard a giggling noise towards the shoreline. Luna was out for a late night swim because she couldn't sleep. I wished that I could join her, but I needed to be somewhere. In a huff, Katie scampered off in the direction of the beach.
Luna's POV:
Tonight, the water was cool and soothing, just as it is every night here. But now, it felt especially calming. Several times, I've caught a glimpse of brightly colored fish under the surface just before I had to come up for air. I may be a hydrokinetic peculiar, but that doesn't mean that I can breathe underwater. At this point, I didn't care. Being in water under a full moon is much more relaxing than being in a room with Olive and Claire.
I'm not saying the two of them are bad roommates. I just need time to myself every so often, especially when I'm dealing with a personal problem. Out of the three of us, I'm the oldest, which makes me feel like I need to step up as a mother figure when Bronwyn isn't around. Claire is afraid of the dark, which is why Miss Peregrine had her and Olive room with me. I just don't want to make them feel bad for me.
I was upset because I told the story. Yes, that story is true. Before I came to live here, I had an older sister named Solaria. The two of us shared the same peculiarity, but she always had the brighter glow. One night, monsters attacked the house, killing Solaria and our parents. I was the only survivor, but I was never the same after that. When I was little, are used to have dark hair, but after my sister's death, it turned white.
I was getting bored just swimming there, so I swam to shore to do one of the things that I do best: Hydrokinesis. Using both hands, I reached out, concentrating all of my energy onto the ocean. A tentacle-like stream started to rise up like a snake being charmed. Swiftly, I took the stream and made it into a ball. Finally, I climbed inside the ball and began to swim.
The whole concept is like a bubble, only instead of air it's filled with water. When I first arrived in the loop, I used to do this all the time. At one time, we used to play a game where I put most of us into water bubble and sent them off. Unfortunately, we had to stop playing it because Olive's peculiarity made her unable to participate and the headmistress thought it would be dangerous if one of us had to come up for air. Still, I smiled at the memory.
