It had been a year since Alyxander had saved Chris, Megan, and I from a walker with a nasty idea and a lot of power. Walkers are individuals with the ability to use magik, a source of power that, with enough potential, could be nearly unlimited. A lot of things can be done with magik, some good and…well, some less than friendly. Powerful walkers have the ability to “walk” through dimension gates. Dimension gates being a doorway through dimensions, created by each individual walker. In the dimension I currently reside in, walkers are rather frowned upon until somebody needs help. I originally am from a dimension that most magikless people are from. A place where humans are dominant and creatures like trolls and goblins are just a myth. The place I currently reside in has anything a person could possibly imagine, it’s like a melting pot for all the different dimensions. Anyways, exactly a year ago today, my friends and I stumbled across a very bad and very powerful walker who saw our potential and had attempted to kill us with a large ball of fire but oddly enough we survived because of a tall, thin, grey haired man named Alyxander. As that large ball of flames hurtled towards us, Alyxander appeared out of thin air and shielded us with his magik. It was like seeing light solidify. After the fireball hit Alyxanders shield we disappeared and reappeared in the place we reside in currently. Alyxander saw our potential as well and decided that we may be the targets of other not so friendly walkers. That’s where our training began. From here on out we’ll be in the current day now that I’ve explained everything.

I woke up feeling extremely cold and confused. I was confused because instead of lying in my warm comfy bed in a room that belonged to Chris and I, I was laying in snow. I sat up and looked around. I appeared to still be in my room, and even stranger, in my bed. I stood up slightly disoriented and looked at my snow covered bed. This could only be the work of Megan, who highly enjoyed the use of ice, snow, and storm magik. She probably figured this would be an interesting wake up call. As I brushed the snow off of me, I found a clean T-shirt to wear and threw it on. Chris laughed as he sat up in his bed. Chris and I were both about five foot seven inches, had brown hair (although mine was a bit longer than his seeing as he had a very short cut) and brown eyes. Chris wore glasses as well. We were both rather tan but he was a tad bit darker due to his Mexican heritage. “Dude, she told you last night that this would happen if you didn’t get up on time.” Chris said to me. I finished getting dressed and cleaned up before anything. “I don’t care man, this isn’t okay!” I replied. Alyxander walked in silently and looked around the room and analyzed me with his dark blue eyes. “You seem to be taking your icy wakeup call better than the last five times she did this to you.” Alyxander said with a warm smile. “Yeah…I guess I am aren’t I?” I replied. Megan walked out from behind Alyxander. She was the same height as Chris and I, had about shoulder length curly light brown hair that looked a bit blond as well, and brown eyes. “Good morning boys, did you sleep well?” Megan smiled at me mischievously. I glared daggers at her. “Megan, do you really have to do this to me all the time?” I asked as I pointed at my bed. “Devin, your sixteen and you can’t get out of bed without being woken up; is that even a question?” Megan replied. I sighed and looked over at my bed. “I guess not.” I said. I gently waved my hand at the window above my bed and it opened with a slight creak. “Man…this house is so old..” I said. “It’s got more character this way.” Alyxander said. I raised my hands with my palms facing the ceiling and the snow floated off my bed as well as any moisture that it created and thrusted my hands forward sending all the snow and moisture out of the window. I pointed at the window after all the snow was gone and it closed with another creak.

“Alright alright, that’s enough procrastinating children; we have some work to do.” Alyxander said to us. We all looked over at Alyxander. “We aren’t children; Megan and I are sixteen and Chris is seventeen.” I said. “Your all children compared to me, trust me.” Alyxander said. I always seemed to forget that Alyxander was a very old and ridiculously powerful walker. Walkers have a much longer lifespan than most people; we can live to be up to a thousand years old if we choose to do so. Most just let go at around a hundred years old. Alyxander was different, he seemed to enjoy life too much to let it go…so much that he’s two hundred and fifty seven years old and doesn’t seem to be interested in dying just yet. “What work do we have to do today?” Chris asked as he finished getting dressed and cleaned up. “I’ve caught wind that there’s a small horde of goblins terrorizing a nearby village.” Alyxander said. “Wait, we get to go kill some goblins today?” I asked. Alyxander nodded in reply. Goblins are a race of short pale green skinned pointy eared weirdo’s that have the morals of very nasty pirates. They murder then they loot and all sorts of disgusting things in between. They’re a rowdy bunch of scum that have the ability to breathe fire and throw small fireballs as a means of a ranged attack. It’s very rare to come across a civilized goblin. Those sorts of goblins are kicked out of their horde because they’re different, but sadly, due to the others of their kind setting a bad example, they have to live under heavy watch of town guards and local walkers for a few years before being trusted. Even then, they aren’t fully accepted into civilized society. The only civilized goblin I know is a guy named ravnik who runs a tavern in a nearby town called urkuuts and uses his natural fire abilities to cook. He’s a pretty cool guy and surprisingly good with socializing, so, he was accepted into his town rather quickly and most actually enjoy his company. I focused a moment and materialized a sword that was sharp enough to cut through even the hardest of material like it was butter. I snapped and a sheathe for my sword appeared and was strapped to my back. I slid my sword into its sheathe and took a deep breath. I snapped my fingers and a black coat with red trim around the cuffs and edges appeared on my person. My clothing under it all turned black as well. I slid my hands into my jeans and smiled. “Well, I’m good to go!” I said happily. I always loved fighting with my sword but hated having to kill…except for goblins and mindless rage monsters….those I didn’t mind exterminating. “You seem a bit too happy about this…that’s a tad bit creepy.” Chris said. My trench coat like jacket was made of a magik enhanced material that made it light like cloth but tough like armor. Piercing my clothes when I went into my gear is a very difficult task and won’t likely happen by fighting some goblins. “Ah, I almost forgot!” I exclaimed as I opened my hands wide. Black fingerless gloves appeared on my hands.  “These will give me a better grip.” I said with an explanatory tone. Megan sighed and shook her head. “We know what your gear does Dev, we’ve seen you use it a million times by now.” Megan said. My sword was medium length and light as a feather, but when my enemies block it, they feel the normal weight of a one handed long sword. The sword was black with red trim around the edges with a black and red hilt and hand guard. Chris materialized similar gear with white trim.  “Hah, I look just like kirito…” Chris said. “Wait, isn’t that copy write?” I asked. “No, this isn’t my idea, I’m just using it and I’m not even making profit off of it, so I should be all good. This is basically one giant reference.” Chris said. “After you two are done breaking the fourth wall, we have serious work to do!” Alyxander reminded us. “Yeah alright let’s get going.” Chris replied. “What town are we headed to?” I asked. “We’re going to urkuuts, and it’s probably already being attacked since you kids wasted so much time!” Alyxander said. “Oh cool, after we kill and cleanup I can go see ravnik!” I exclaimed happily. Alyxander sighed. “I suppose you can.” Alyxander replied. We walked out the door of the large wooden mansion and left the magik barrier making our way into the woods towards urkuuts. “Ladies and gentlemen, this will be a rather challenging battle; be careful and stay on your guard.” Alyxander said as we started to use magik to speed up our pace. “We will, don’t worry…I’ll keep an eye on these two.” Megan said.
